Sunderland won the title 6 times ????
I disagree. I think the past is greatly important. It’s like saying you’ve never had that VHS of the Mercer-Allison era or that “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” banner should come down or that Tony Book and Mike Summerbee shouldn’t come out with the team at the end of the season if we go on to lift the Prem trophy because they’re from the past and should be forgotten now we’re achieving these things with a new bunch.Have to say I couldn’t care less. Wittering on about what they won in the dim and distant is the domain of your average rag or dipper. I’m just revelling in our 7 year ongoing sojourn as the best side in the country. Here and now’s what counts and with every passing day what the dippers won in the 70’s and 80’s becomes as irrelevant as what Huddersfield won in the 1930’s
Also, Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle have won 4 each.Sunderland won the title 6 times ????

What Villa Sunderland SheffWeds Huddersfield Everton and many other clubs achieved in the past is something everyone should know about and recognise. Those achievements are never irrelevant. The amount of people in this thread who didn’t know that Villa and Everton had won so much and call themselves football fans is alarming really.
Indeed. Let’s hope we all stay like that as a fanbaseThere’s a world of difference between being aware of your (and others) history, and being consumed by it. I know exactly where City, Everton, Spurs etc stand in the historical pecking order, and I've savoured all of our ups and downs for 5 decades and seen first hand how they’ve shaped us as supporters. The day I start braying to, let’s say, a Sheffield United supporter however, about how much more we’ve won than them and how they’ve got “no history”, will be the day I make the final transition from City fan to prize cock.
History is fine if you had the pleasure of seeing your team win trophies. The 93:20 moment will forever give me a warm glow but right here, right now is more important; as is where you are headed.Have to say I couldn’t care less. This discussion is premature and pointless. It's like breaking the wind in a row record or the dubious ''number of goals in a calendar year."
All these are things you look back at... Not forward to. The only important discussions are those immediate goals worth looking forward to.
Assume the Pep philosophy. Our goal is simply to win the next game and then the next and then the next. At the end of the week, month, decade, century others can look back and appreciate what has been done by different teams.
But right now it's all quite a boring discussion to "look forward to what we'd like to look back to"
Funny enough English Journos can't seem to help themselves as they keep finding more ways to ask the same question
"Pep can your team be the greatest?
Stop asking! Time will reveal all.
