Can we afford to let Barry go?

Barry will have a couple of great games for Everton but these will be mixed in with four or five useless performances. We had the best out of Barry, time to move on.

What makes you say that, he never did that for us. In fact I would say he was arguable our most consistent player for the past 3 seasons. To say he would have 4 or 5 useless games for every 2 good ones is absolute rubbish. Did you watch us on a regular basis for the past few season or are you going off what Adrian Durham and the rest of the gutter press say about him?

First time I have cried over a player leaving since Ian Bishop-that was just as nonsensical.

His performance today was typical and described as a 'masterclass' by Martinez.

As I said at the time, it made no sense to let a player like Barry go. Stupid decision. In the right game, where we need to control possession, as we will in Europe, a player like Gareth Barry is an absolute diamond.

100% agreed, I'd have him back and kick Yaya upfield and the £30m Fernandinho can go back to the Ukraine for me.

On the other hand, he has just helped to take 3 points off Chelsea. But yeah, I agree we should've kept him. Especially as we didn't even sell him.

I completely agree with that statement, True.

No of our players has performed more consistently in the time that Gareth Barry has been with us.

He got exposed in the CL last season though. Domestically I agree he would still be a very important player for us

I thought Barry continually gave away fouls and was just a fraction late

Great tackle to save a goal, but we got rid at the right time. And today was actually more proof of that.

Everton sat deep and let Chelsea come onto them. The space is therefore restricted and Barry doesn't have to go one for one with his midfield opponent
