Accusing who of doing what???

Nice touch though, adding a nasty personal comment on what should be a positive thread.
*thumbs up*
I'm sorry it read that way - I was referring to someone else in this thread , not you .
I agree entirely with you .

if your referring to my post, which part of it is homophobic. pray tell

can just say i`m straight and 61 years old.

i accept people for who and what they are but i dont need to know if the bloke or woman sat next to me is straight or gay or wanks furiously to old newsreel footage of margret thatcher.

i just dont understand the need for a person to broadcast to the world their sexual orientation, what happens behind their bedroom door at night between two or three consenting adults is of no concern to me.
At no point did I say that you or your views were homophobic , I did say there was an element of hypocrisy though.
You said that you didn't understand why people broadcast to the world " their sexual orientation" but you jumped at the chance to broadcast your founding membership of the , albeit fictional , " illiterate shit- stirrers" branch of the supporters club. If you want to start such a grouping and proclaim your affiliation to it , fine , but it makes you just the same as anyone who is broadcasting their sexuality. I don't want to know if the bloke or woman sat next to me is illiterate or a shit-stirrer any more than you want to know their sexuality, but if they it makes them feel better , then that is not a problem to me.
My point is that everyone is as entitled to be a member of whichever group they want (as long as it's legal) and everyone is entitled to voice disapproval and be critical of those groups but to disapprove of someone's behaviour and then do exactly the same thing is hypocritical

Then why are you bothered by a Man City LGBT supporters group?

I don't think that this he/ she is specifically bothered about them being LGBT , I suspect that, as he/she has admitted to being 61 years old ( not many years older than I am) that he has a generational mindset that is uncomfortable with any expression of sexuality.
My gripe is not whether he/she is homophobic - that is between them and their conscience - and is a view to which they are entitled , unless it encourages homophobic violence, as long as they are willing to accept criticism of that view, as much as they are willing to hand out criticism . I just don't like double standards.

Surely anyone who doesn't think the LGBT group is great and openly supports it is being homophobic? Tacit support is as good as no support IMHO. The very least we can do is wear rainbow socks or something.

I'm fully in support of this movement. An LGBT Supporters' Group is a refreshing addition to our fanbase and is needed in exactly the same way as the Gay Pride parades are.

For those worried about a LGBT Supporters' Group "shoving it in your face", understand that Canal Street Blues has been set up to help football supporters learn to love each other and accept each other in football stadiums across the world, not to "be in your face". Casual homophobia and transphobia (as well as sexism) are rife in society and even more so in football stadiums - so much so that some people think there's no problem. This is exactly why LGBT Supporters' Groups like Canal Street Blues need to be set up and recognised as legitimate and important movements.

Congratulations on the success you're having, John. I wish you all the luck for the future in both football stadiums and in life. Because of my sexuality, skin colour and gender I am born with a default privilege I'm almost ashamed to have because of how other heterosexual, white, males behave towards people who aren't born with the same default privileges. If there's any way I can help in the way of donations or finding more members I'd be eager to contribute any way I can! The only way to reach equality is through positive integration, and together we can all achieve that - starting now.

GOOD LUCK.

It doesn't have to be supported - it just has to be accepted
