I've never been overly convinced by Guus, nice guy but can he do the big job? Don't count what he did at Chelsea as too short term.

Really it has to be Twitcher, much as the guy irritates the fuck out of me and was guilty imo of tax evasion, he deserves the chance to make it work.

Chelsea was in freefall at the time. That was a pretty big job. I mean doing the Euros, he wouldn't stay on for a permanent role as he's said he's close to retirement (which is why he didn't come back to Chelsea). His ability to get the best out of his players is as good as it gets IMO. He had Malouda performing like Robben and Mikel (yes, Mikel) performing like Makelele. This transformation was immediate. Tactically he's brilliant too. He had the better of a Barcelona side that went on to shit on United in the final, but you know how that story went down.

I can't say how he'd do in a longer term role, but the situation here would be similar to Chelsea. Serious boot up the arse needed while in crisis mode.
