It's a sad day for me as it is. My dad died 20 years ago today. This has made it doubly so. Hope dad's in the crowd applauding him up the pavilion steps at close of play. Raise that bat high Sir. You deserve it. Rip.
The bastard virus has taken a real hero. When the news came out he had it, we all took a deep breath and feared the worst. He was such an inspiration to us all and made us feel proud to call him.our own. I watched a tribute just there and I must have been hit in the eyes by two large bluebottles. RIP Sir, you will always be remembered with love and affection from us all.
Sad. Government should introduce an NHS bursary in his name which will pay out compensation to workers for the Covid-19 pandemic and then provide bursaries for doctors, nurses and other care workers training going forward. An opportunity to harness the compassion shown by Sir Tom and translate it into a compassionate initiative for our healthcare and medical professionals.
Very sad news. Amazing father, grandfather, served his country and raised £33 million for the NHS. Deserves his own statue. Amazing man and an amazing life. Goodnight Sir Tom
