Fernandinho played well against Fulham after a two week break but was poor against Lyon.

If Fernandinho is physically at it then it's no question he starts but 3 games in 7 days, after his lethargic start to the season, it's a no from me.

Gundogon doesn't do it for me in the advanced midfield role, his movement isn't great, however his spell when stepping in for Fern last season was great. His passing from deep helped our tempo, and his positioning is good when teams counter on us; made quite a few interceptions.

So a weary Fern against Cardiff? No thanks. Gondogon will in my opinion be better for now, but not necessarily all the time.
Fernandhino wasn't "lethargic" though, he was doing the job of two players, because the one who you say should start in his place tomorrow wasn't doing his job.

I'd pick Fernandhino over Gundogan every single time.

Really need a win tomorrow otherwise the season could well be over before it's even started. We've got a weak, vulnerable midfield at the minute, and their confidence won't take another knock. Warnock will have his players up for this - not in a bad way, I'm sure it'll be tough, but fair, that's the Warnock way. The Rags will beat Wolves and will be on a roll, as well as Liverpool, and unless we're very careful those two could be out of sight before the end of November......

Whilst I agree that a win is important tomorrow, do you not think it might be a bit of an overreaction to say that the season could well be over? Just a bit?

It's over it's over.... Roy orbison ?

Your regular suicide watch Friday night?

Going to be a an evil game tomorrow, torrential rain forecast for South Wales !
Seems to be a lot of spares flying around for this game, weather and Northern rail to blame no doubt. I'm on 7am train but I can only get back to Preston, its costing me £80 in taxi to get back to Lancaster, normally that would be split but there's only me going, Arghhhhh!

I'm probably not the best person to get into this conversation with as even though he's not perfect, I'm pretty comfortable with Gundogan playing there in games like this and when I watch him I think he's bit more tenacious and better in the press than some people give him credit for. I expect us to have a lot of the ball in this game and i think he's great at helping us to control the tempo and set forward plays going. Fernandinho looks a bit jaded to me at the moment so if it's a choice between a jaded Fernandinho and Gundogan then I'd choose the latter. Would quite like to try Delph out there at some point too but maybe not tomorrow.
It’s all about balance and when you compare between those two you need to look at which player provides stability.

It's going to be a battle, needs strong players like vinny, nico and dinho to play,no gundy he is too soft

While it is no criticism to say that you have never played football, to come back from the injuries he has had reveals one thing he is not.... SOFT
