It would be nice for some nice calm analysis of the game instead of people just venting their frustrations

Go and get your tea (or Dinner) open a beer or pour yourself a glass of wine, take a deep breath, and relax

Ranting and raving is not adding to the the discussion and I am sure that when some of you have calmed down a bit you will be embarrassed.

We will loose games this season and we will play badly, all teams do but I hope some lessons have been learnt, but it was never going to be an easy game today, it was their biggest game ever, and the players knew it, onwards and upwards damage done lessons learnt

To some extent but if we are serious about winning the title we can only afford 2 or 3 results like that at most and it is pretty devastating that we get one in our first away game. I agree Pelli needs time but the margins will be very tight this year and we really cannot afford to give away 3 goals like that, I remain optimistic but I think talk of the title in his first season was OTT. I'll settle for 3rd

Re: Cardiff Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

I think a little bit of perspective is needed right now. Yes it it was a poor collective performance and we have been dumped back to earth with a serious thud! However, if you are going to get a swift kick up the arse and BIG wake up call then the 1st away game of the season is possibly the best time to get it.
The manager now knows exactly what he is dealing with and he needs the chance to sort it out. He probably now realises that some of players are not as good as they think they are and they can't keep blaming it on everyone else - which as we all know they are very quick to do so.
Lets take stock and start making some objective judgments after circa 10 games or so.
As crazy as this may sound the defeat today may well be a blessing in disguise for us.

I don't doubt his great qualities, he is a true blue and a warrior. Yes.

But a hugely overrated and actually, fundamentally not particularly good right back. City fans are wowed by hi committment, and the media hype which has whipped up around him - started by rat face Neville, actually.

But when you look at it objectively, dispassionately, he is flaky in defence and rarely, if ever does an attack featuring Zabaleta result in a goal. The guy is average. Top bloke, love him. But average.
He scored the first goal against qpr I think, anyway to each his own lets just agree to disagree.

Of course he did. But that doesn't mean he is genius, does it. He fluked that one in as well.

Full agree that Zab is overrated here. Bit above average in anything beside work rate.

Re: Cardiff Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

With Chelsea, Spurs and the Scum all pushing on this season, we can ill afford to drop points against teams like Cardiff. All this talk of early days is true, but i expect teams will get to lose no more rhan 1 or 2 unexpected games this season if they want to win the league. Plus 1 or 2 against the tips sides. A total of maybe 4 defeats per season and no more.

We have lost one already, after two games. Not fucking good. Diabolically shite in fact.

Very disappointing. Thought we tried hard enough, but simply didn't show enough quality in midfield or up front. Too many sideways passes, not enough incisive play. Tempo was a huge problem again. All in all, far too reminiscent of last season.

On the plus side you'd think Pellegrini has now seen all our weaknesses at first hand.

Agreed.

He's on the phone getting Bobby in as defensive coach.

dont really see the link. Cardiff took there chances and we arent gonna win every game. As the poster says below how is that typical city ??

It is not just this forum or our fans that subscribe to the notion that we have the best squad in the PL. Where is the quality when it's needed? The players must think the Bank Holiday is for them!

Re: Cardiff Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

We see these type of results fairly often in early season games.United at Burnley,Arsenal v Hull etc.
Most of the comments re Joe hart I agree with.
Zaballetta was poor today.
Pellegrini was never going to solve our away day troubles straight away.
The new players now know what to expect in away matches against these sorts of teams.
Congratulations to Cardiff.

I saw this so many times last season, but we kept making the same mistakes.

Re: Cardiff Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

BBC STATS ...

We had 56% possession to Cardiffs 44% ..... we had 16 shots to Cardiffs 9 ........ we had 8 corners to Cardiffs 3 ..... yet we still managed to lose to a distinctly average , if spirited , Cardiff side.

We score our first goal at a great time , just after the interval , and should have built on it ....... but instead we inexplicably then defend like a pub team and throw it all away.

What a fuckin' shambles , a game lost already ..... and hardly any player put in a worthwhile performance either !
