Cardiff Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

There's no dodging it, there was a stench of arrogance going into the game today... it showed on the field, such a relaxed approach in believing we would walk it, it's even going on this forum... people predicting 4-0 victorys. People never learn and more importantly neither do the players. And as always, reality kicked in at the final minute. Suddenly everyone is shocked that we are 3-1 down to Cardiff and it hits the players... just look at the sudden urgency and desire to win the game at 89 minutes.

It's not the first time it's happened and it will continue to happen until a manager finally puts his foot down and drops players for being so casual during the games. Because we batter Newcastle one week, doesn't mean we're going to batter another team the next week. It went on during the Mancini era aswell.

It's more of a mentality problem than physical.

Spot on

We also need a nasty fucker. Someone who fucking shouts & moans

Our most dependable player had a poor day at the office and we never created sufficient scoring opportunities from thepossession we enjoyed. Better for all to learn now than later.

We would not have lost that with Mancini in charge, we have dropped a huge bollock

so Southampton away did not happen then last season?
Saints are a better team than Cardiff, Mancini would have sorted the tactics out once Cardiff had equalised and we would have gone on and pissed that game today.
Sacked for shouting at a few players what a friggin joke

Don't worry. Pelli will be cuddling them all as we speak.

Don't worry mate. All the outers said things would be different. I for one saw didly squat different today. Very very dissapointed.

Things WILL be different. Pellegrini isn't Mancini and vice versa. Both are extremely capable managers who have a very good record and a very good chance of bringing City success.

And I say this as someone who is like a Justin Bieber fangirl for Mancini during his Sampdoria and City days; the mistakes of the team as they applied today and within the next couple of months are Mancini's mistakes. You can't just walk onto a training field, flick a switch and have everybody playing how you wish them too. It takes time for Pellegrini to put his mark on the team not only on who he does and doesn't want but also in their style of play. We can't expect the mistakes and reactions of players to certain situations to change overnight, it needs to be coached into them.

Sorry but i simply refuse to believe that Mancini would have played that formation today with two centre half neither of which have any great pace and a high line - i dont even think he would have played Garcia at centre half - he would have flooded midfield certainly playd Milner from the off

That was wank today players must take the blame but somehow letting "The Engineer" off today is a poor poor excuse - if he is an engineer i a fucking ballet dancer

Mancini DID play Garcia at centre back.

But that's besides my point. My point is that the players didn't respond properly today in neither urgency and were particularly disorganised when it comes to defensive set pieces, both of which were problems that Mancini couldn't address in his time here and Pellegrini has not had time to address.

Again I say this as a guy who, as Billy will attest to, has never had a bad word to say about Mancini ever. The guy's one of my heroes.

Terrible defending. Cardiff came fwd 3 times 2nd half and scored each time, could bloody see it coming for the 3rd.

We controlled majority. We had some chances.

Negredo looks good.

It's a freak result, very disappointing, but a freak.

Wias Wigan a freak result - seems to be an awful lot of these freak results to me

Pellegrini's had two competitive games mate. I'm not in the slightest bit concerned about a freak result in which we conceded two goals from two corners. The point I make about our weaknesses, well lets see how the team evolves in the next few weeks and months.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of people very upset, fuck knows I am. But everyone loses a game they shouldn't sooner or later. Lets see if we learn anything from it before we start yelling and screaming hey ...

Billy-i didn't think it was a freak result.I actually thought Cardiff wanted it more and showed the desire and passion that our so called players didn't. For what Cardiff lack in skill they make up for in desire.
Sadly,City still think they can just turn up and roll teams over like this. I'm not yelling and screaming but it is very concerning that there was no difference in that today from what we all witnessed last season away from home.
I am just thinking about european games this season...We play like that and we will get pummelled.
Sunderland away in 2011-12 was a freak result. We created 27 changes in that game and Sunderland scored in injury time with their only shot on target.

Today had nowt freak about it at all. We were slow, lethargic, lazy and nobody took control of things. We also created very little. Cardiff were desperate to win that game, they defended well and took 3 of their 6 chances.

Like I said, Pellegrini will have seen all our weaknesses up close now. Your right we were slow and lethargic, and didn't create a great deal. But we did that countless times last season and still ended up winning games due to the quality we have. It was a freak result because we conceded two goals from individual errors from Zaba. Maybe they deserved a point, but they didn't deserve all three.

Arghhh the old freak result comment.
No what is a freak result is that we could spend 80 million and see zero yes zero improvement on last seasons away performances.Freak results happen, this my friend was not one of them!!!

Its the cuddles they are missing.
