I do maintain that Stevan Jovetić is our highest quality signing of the Summer so maybe thins will be different when he gets fit.

I am really high on him as well. He's got a lot of range to his game, could be very helpful against the bus. Feel like he brings the good parts of Nasri's game with the good parts of Aguero's game. Partners well with others, I hope we can introduce him soon.

Very disappointing. Thought we tried hard enough, but simply didn't show enough quality in midfield or up front. Too many sideways passes, not enough incisive play. Tempo was a huge problem again. All in all, far too reminiscent of last season.

On the plus side you'd think Pellegrini has now seen all our weaknesses at first hand.

From the one who said everything would be different and our football would be out of this world...
Sorry Billy but I have not seen anything different in that performance today than what we had last year away from home. How long is it before you start your witch hunt against Pellegrini???

Pellegrini's had two competitive games mate. I'm not in the slightest bit concerned about a freak result in which we conceded two goals from two corners. The point I make about our weaknesses, well lets see how the team evolves in the next few weeks and months.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of people very upset, fuck knows I am. But everyone loses a game they shouldn't sooner or later. Lets see if we learn anything from it before we start yelling and screaming hey ...

Bang on.

I said before that Pellegrini's style is going to progress us and not hinder us but we are just learning his methods. We were always going to lose sometime and I would rather our mistakes were against a club like Cardiff than the likes of United, Chelsea and Spurs.

I remember a few seasons back when we drew away at West Brom and they parked the bus. After that most teams started using the same tactic and it worked. But I can happily say that if other teams play the way Cardiff did today against us, and we have a full strength team or a bit more luck then we will tear them apart.

I also believe that Yayas laziness, as he often displays that characteristic, cost us today, simply not having desire to do what defensive midfielder should do - cut opponent counter-attacks on time !
Navas totally closed - Dzeko was injured, he would probably stayed with Negerdo....

Re: Typical City.

But thats why we love City and we stick by them.Unlike your average glory hunter who will now be looking at his RAG or chelsea shirt in prep for tomorrow nights game.
City wouldnt be City if they didnt build us up to knock us down again the next week.
Come on,seriously we all thought we fckd up that day against QPR didnt we? ;)

Agreed - he´s a worker to boot and hopefully will provide a bit more of the mo-jo to the overall team performance - what´s the problem with him btw?

Yes it did. But all of those other games where we went down and came back to gain points (and if I remember right we gained more points from behind than any other team in the PL year on year when Mancini was here) also happened.

Don't worry mate. All the outers said things would be different. I for one saw didly squat different today. Very very dissapointed.

Things WILL be different. Pellegrini isn't Mancini and vice versa. Both are extremely capable managers who have a very good record and a very good chance of bringing City success.

And I say this as someone who is like a Justin Bieber fangirl for Mancini during his Sampdoria and City days; the mistakes of the team as they applied today and within the next couple of months are Mancini's mistakes. You can't just walk onto a training field, flick a switch and have everybody playing how you wish them too. It takes time for Pellegrini to put his mark on the team not only on who he does and doesn't want but also in their style of play. We can't expect the mistakes and reactions of players to certain situations to change overnight, it needs to be coached into them.

Sorry but i simply refuse to believe that Mancini would have played that formation today with two centre half neither of which have any great pace and a high line - i dont even think he would have played Garcia at centre half - he would have flooded midfield certainly playd Milner from the off

That was wank today players must take the blame but somehow letting "The Engineer" off today is a poor poor excuse - if he is an engineer i a fucking ballet dancer

Billy-i didn't think it was a freak result.I actually thought Cardiff wanted it more and showed the desire and passion that our so called players didn't. For what Cardiff lack in skill they make up for in desire.
Sadly,City still think they can just turn up and roll teams over like this. I'm not yelling and screaming but it is very concerning that there was no difference in that today from what we all witnessed last season away from home.
I am just thinking about european games this season...We play like that and we will get pummelled.
Sunderland away in 2011-12 was a freak result. We created 27 changes in that game and Sunderland scored in injury time with their only shot on target.

Today had nowt freak about it at all. We were slow, lethargic, lazy and nobody took control of things. We also created very little. Cardiff were desperate to win that game, they defended well and took 3 of their 6 chances.

It's hardly surprising when some city fans love to cling on to it for dear life.

For what it's worth I can totally see how playing out for a draw when you need a win to avoid relegation and losing at Cardiff despite looking to challenge for the league title are similar

Is it a freak result though? It was the same performance we've had a few times away from home.

I was of the opinion Mancini deserved to go last year. But today, away from home it looked exactly the same as previous performances.
