The only player he's really comparable to there is Kuyt, the rest are goal poachers, and i think he's better technically than Kuyt, although he hasn't got the goals yet, i think they'll come eventually (personally i'd be happy with anything over 10 a season from Tevez, he contributes in other ways). I'd agree that his price was inflated, i don't think he's a £30million level player, but that's the same for pretty much every player we've signed so i think it's a bit harsh to judge a player by that given our current situation.
Right i get where you coming from but do we need a "workhorse" striker? I am by no means saying tevez is shite, just overrated by some on here and personally i dont feel he is justifying he starting place. I'd take him out for a couple of games and use him as an impact sub and then play him in certain games. Maybe a fair comparison is bellamy then who works his arse off and scores goals - and people scoffed at him coming here as well as his price (granted iage and injuries were a concern)
Effort wise i have no complaint and he has shown signs just very poor finishing thus far
I actually think we do, i agree his finishing has been very poor so far, i don't know if that's confidence or whatever, he's always seemed to be one of those streaky goalscorers?
It's be done to death, and people seem to use it as a stick to beat him with (that's all he ever does, new dickov, less running around like headless chicken etc), but his closing down the opposition really does make a difference.
I remember in the Birmingham match 3 times in the first 10 minutes, he closed down the keeper, meaning he booted it out of play or straight to one of our players, he basically won us the ball 3 times there. If we were better at keeping possession ourselves, rather than giving it away cheaply, time after time, that would a) take a lot of the pressure off the defence, and b) help us dominate the ball and control the game like the other top 4 teams do.
I think we're right to expect more from him, i think it'll come, but he's far from a failure which the odd person on here seems to be claiming.
And i think his range of passing so far has been class, but that seems to be overlooked.
