Getting a 29 year old striker who earns about 200k/a week...with just a few years left at the top and probably his best years behind him. With a 10m+ transfer fee aswell. Good business IMO.

This!

Selling Tevez will be folly IMO. Let him go on a free is a worst case scenario, and I'd rather that than lose him and then have to try and replace him.

I suspect that he'll end up staying because from a footballing perspective replacing him will be much harder than 11 million euros.

Exactly

Its hard to find a player who can score 17 and had 10 assists who is worth less than 20 million.

hes in the last year of his contract why would anybody pay 20 m for him

Seem to recall arsenal getting similar fee for pLayers on last year of contract.

Right time to sell him from a footballing point of view.

Only 29, but looks like he has lost a bit of pace. I don't know why at that age, but last season he really struggled to create space for himself in the penalty area

Aguero was injured for one third of the season, Dzeko was out of favour so the onus fell on Tevez and he did not deliver, although his attitude was as ever spot on

If he goes, he has to be replaced

It's a great bit of business for us.

In the immediacy, we would be £20m up straight away, the £10m fee and also the saving on his £10m a year wages.

Subsequently, most new signings have a contract duration between four and five years.

In simple terms, that's another £40m a year we now have at our disposal to do what we want with.

Carlos leaving is worth £60m revenue back to us in spending power and wages over the next five years.

That's not even including the £20m for Mario and his wages.

Nice piece of accounting. Had forgotten all about Mario and his big salary. Our recent recruits will be on less basic wages for sure, and probably bonus loaded . The more we win the more they earn. Happy days .

I mean about our transfer targets.....

Well, Navas and Fernandinho was very straightforward I think..
Really?

Because I'd have thought that with Shakhtar refusing to lower the fee for a number of weeks, that would have made it quite the opposite?

Really? How quickly do you think deals are done?
Just the lawyers, and we talk about three sets of lawyers take a week, then there´s medicals and before that there´s the actual bidding for a player, proposals and counterproposals..

If any deal for a first team player is done within a month it would impress me, that´s why so many deals are on a slow burner during the season.

I was merely highlighting that with us there's always a reported snag or hitch to the deal.

Especially with the current deals it's frustrating to see how seamless it looks like Juve have reportedly entered into and completed discussions over Tevez.

Not how quick they may or may not have done it, how seamless it appears to have been. The posturing from Milan was just that imo

Fernandinho was a battle. He thought he was never going to be able to get Shakhtar bosses to lower his release clause. It went on for months, only City fans weren't focussed on it, because he hasn't got a catchy song
