Carlos Tevez

Nowhere near Messi nor indeed Ronaldo in terms of technical ability, yet he shared something with both- arguably he was even better in this respect- in that he was one of those exceptionally few players who could take a game by the scruff of the neck and drag his team mates and team back into what appeared a lost cause. Just by his sheer presence on the pitch, he seemed to extract more from each other individual and that, in turn, improved the team’s performance.

He has played in 5 different leagues and won league titles in 4 of them and being instrumental in those teams.

Not a mean feat, it is easy to stay at one club that dominates your whole career in a league where 3 clubs compete tevez hasn't he has moved and stared in every league he has visited.

You cannot argue he is world class at the top table of thel ast decade.

For a period of his career, he was world class. He was never near Ronaldo or Messi’s level.

On the flip side, he joined United at their most dominant and won the league - playing a much lesser role than Rooney and Ronaldo. Juventus and winning the league? Hardly a mean feat.

With us? Dragged us at times, but he played less of a role than Adam Johnson in our first title win, so yeah fair way from the elites. You only have to start writing a list of the best players to grace the top 5 leagues over the last 15 years, to see just how far down he would feature.

If i was to start writing a list of the best players the top 5 leagues over the last 15 years , then he would be in my top half dozen players , thats MY opinion though , not a generalisation or a prediction of other peoples opinions.

There was something going on with the lad in 2010 and 2011. I don’t know if it was mental or related to other people off the pitch, but he was acting very strangely for a long time.

Against Newcastle at home in 2010 - After nothing bad at all had been done by the ref (I think he gave Newcastle as clear a goal kick decision as you’ll ever see), Tevez booted the ball against the advertising boards and went mad at the ref. The ref booked him and Tevez looked happy about it. It was his fifth booking of the season and he had a game ban after that. It was clear as day that it was on purpose.

I knew then that something wasn’t right. Only for him to take that to another level eleven months later, orchestrating him having six months off after falling out with Mancini.

But then if it wasn’t for him coming back in the March that season I don’t think we’d have won the league. He was instrumental in goals and wins against Chelsea and Norwich. Without those wins United would have won the league.

A strange man, but a cracking player and I’ll look back at his time with us fondly as I can forgive his strangeness and him going AWOL as he made up for it.

There were a few games for us where he was genuinely at the most elite level of the sport you can get to.

He did a book where he talked about his depression so that was maybe why he acted funny

Don't remember him bringing out a book (not disputing it)?

Anyone know how affectionately he spoke of the club or were we just a another stepping stone to him for a healthy bank balance?

If I had to pick an all time City 11 ( players that I have seen) Tevez would start. A simply superb player who gave 100% when he played

I think so, one of those players who stood out, when you watched live football. I probably mean pitch level watching. Movement, first touch, vision , decision making, class.
