The top top clubs in the world don't have a squad of 22 world class players. It just doesn't work like that. Carlton Cole is a very good young premiership centre forward. He's exactly the type of player we should be looking at to strengthen the squad...

I'm not saying he's the best player in the world, but he's a realistic target.

If you want we can only talk about Torres, Drogba, Eto'o, et al even though in the real world we have no chance of signing them...

I know the top clubs don't have squads of 22 world class players, but I doubt any single top club in the world would consider Carlton Cole a 'fantastic addition' if any of them signed him.

I don't rate him as a very good premiership centre forward and he's 27 later this year so he's not particularly young, more like coming to his peak!

There are a lot of quality strikers in the prem and he's arguably just about in the top 25. Of his type of player, I'd say he's in with the Kenwyne Jones' and Emile Heskeys of this world as opposed to the Adebayors and is light years away from Torres and Drogba who are in a class of their own. Signing him would be a complete waste of time

This is the sort of player I'd expect Hughes to have signed

Like fuck he is!

He's 26, so hardly 'young', he should be in his prime and therefore looking to be a starter, not a squad addition... he failed at Chelsea, Wolves, Villa and Charlton and, coming up to 100 games at WHU scores a goal just under every 4 games.

He's also made just 173 appearences in a career that currently spans 9 going on 10 years. In that time he's scored a career total 47 goals.

He may be a realistic target, but i'd hope not one we're seriously considering.
 
This crap about Ada drifting about to much........he has to come deep to get a ball to feet, if he stays up front its a just a long ball for him to flick on to nobody.
 
I wouldnt have him over Adebayor, but I certainly would over RSC. Cole has a lot of qualities and has really come on as a player over the past year or 2. Strong, good hold up and first touch, decent feet, good movement and a really improved finisher.

Its been a funny old season in which A LOT of strikers are having good seasons.

Bent, Zamora, Defoe, Tevez, Rooney, Cole, Drogba and Agbonlahor have all more or less exceeded goalscoring expectations for the season already.

Ade isnt far behind and I genuinely thought he had his best game since his ban on Sunday, hopefully he'll continue that when hes got a bit of support from both Tevez and the managers team selection/tactics.
