Carol Thatcher and the racist remark

I think everyone's getting off the subject talking about the n word, well my mates black and someone who's pissed wanting to kill asian kids in oldham! The topic was carol thatcher using the word Gollywog about a black tennis player... if the player was Monfils, i don't think it was racist at all. I am not a fan of the completely morally corrupt Thatcher family and if she had been talking about a black man who hadn't the slightest characteristics of a gollywog i would say it was meant to be a racist remark. I don't think she should've lost her job and i do believe it is an example of the BBC's political correctness gone mad.

So PC that they refused to broadcast the Gaza Appeal in case it offended that lovely Israeli government.

Ooh, I can't wait for the Comic Relief Thread. Fancy starting it, my friend?

Right, let's have an end to all this pc nonsense. Happy Now?

I'm lost now. How is making a Golly Wog white overcoming the offence caused? I'll be happy when people stop apologising for bigotry and until then I'll keep complaining, and if it takes, that long, so will my children, grandchildren, ad infinitem...

I never really got the whole comic relief thing...Lenny Henry and loads of people starving to death....and i don't know which is less funny...

she was a stupid woman for saying such a remark in the presence of the super sensitive BBC,but at the and of the day she was only comparing an individual to a well known doll of which we all know what they look like, heard loads of blacks on call shows who don't give a fook and to be honest fair play to them,ITS A FUCKIN DOLL.. get over it BBC ffs there are more pressing cases of racism in the world to deal with...

I was suggesting an analogy. What kind of argument is 'Bollocks' and how is one supposed to respond to it?

I didnt agree with your analogy. A lookalike is a lookalike regardless of religion, race or creed.

It's the motive for the comparison that is the issue. Some might find it funny, others could be over-sensitive but, in this case, the reference is purely offensive, in my view.

Reading this forum generally, and it's not a criticism of you personally, my friend, I have often thought [and occasionally posted] that such issues have only just occurred to some people, whereas some of us have a lifetime of such treatment. I can't change my experience of prejudice and neither can anyone attempt to say it isn't so. She did wrong and got the sack. May be she will learn. Let's all move on.
