It's the motive for the comparison that is the issue..

How are you aware of her motive though? To be honest i couldnt care less about thatcher and her job. Maybe her motive was just to point out similarities between a doll and this tennis player. If we are aware of her motive and it was to cause offence then fine, she deserved the sack.

Much more worrying things in the world than this

she was a stupid woman for saying such a remark in the presence of the super sensitive BBC,but at the and of the day she was only comparing an individual to a well known doll of which we all know what they look like, heard loads of blacks on call shows who don't give a fook and to be honest fair play to them,ITS A FUCKIN DOLL.. get over it BBC ffs there are more pressing cases of racism in the world to deal with...

Thank goodness the 'blacks' don't mind. As pissedagain will tell you, the P***s did it and I should know, I've got the T-shirt and so have my kids.

Seriously, I know what you mean, although I personally still think it will always be an offensive remark. However, it's a shame that the BBC has neither the balls or the inclination to deal with more pressing issues like homeless children in Gaza [thanks to our sponsorship of Israel], the oppression of Christians by the Muslim Ganja Weed in Darfur [no oil, who cares?] or the civil war in the DR Congo [we need the precious metals from the dodgy military regime].

The BBC aren't intrested in supporting Gaza as it wouldn't sit well with british and american jews...who aren't exactly lacking in wealth or influence. To you i'm probably racist for pointing this out. Because you seem to have branded everyone on here that who hasn't agreed with you about the gollywog/thatcher thing.

I don't brand anyone, my friend, but apologise if you take my comments as inferring the same. However, how can I be wrong to say that such a comment is offensive to many? Others may find the comment acceptable but she wasn't round their house having the conversation, was she? The BBC is a public space paid for by all of us in some way. As for Gaza, I respectfully refer you, if you have the inclination, to the contribution of others and me to the 'Live in Gaza' thread. Best wishes.
