Tom you seem preoccupied by the notion of hardness. You don’t know if these lads were snowflakes or had an ex special forces member sat amongst them so let’s put that notion aside.

Spitting at a child crosses a line regardless of how unspeakably awful the child’s dad is
Do you actually think he intentionally spat at the child?
 
I'd wager that not one of the mouthy ****s would say it to his face. All from the safety of the bus 100 yards away.
 
Context is important here though pal.
But when a man has been demonstrably proven to be a scumbag by spitting at a child then normal rules don’t apply anymore similar to if one finds oneself confronted by a burglar at home. The same legal rules may still apply but morally the situation has changed.

Have you considered what Carragher might have done for charity or youth football? Or whether he’s a decent family man?

Or is flobbing at a no-mark abuser plus being a scouse bastard your measure of humanity?
