CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Very true, it ultimately depends on when and how the owner(s) decide to finally cash in on their investment(s)...
Some investors are in for the long run, some cut and run. Fortunately, ours seem to at least have a longer term growth plan.
Some clubs aren't so lucky.... ;-)

If you look at the US ownership model in MLB and NFL - for many it’s only about profit - salary caps and collective TV contracts guarantee profit. The Draft system ensures no team is dominant so owners can chose to spend up to the salary cap if they are ambitious - and still make a healthy profit. Or if they want they can low ball the salary cap and maximise profit. There is no doubt the Sceptic‘s have the NFL model in mind and are slowly moving the PL in that direction and our owners are the major barrier to their collective objective.

The only problem is that there's revenue sharing in the NFL and there's no way the US owners want that. If the Superbowl was decided on revenue, the Dallas Cowboys would win it every single year but they don't, because of the salary cap. What the US owners in the PL want is for the bigger earners and spenders (i.e. their clubs) to be consistently successful.

They'd hate a situation whereby a team like Brighton or Southampton could compete.

Yes, isn't there a rule that a team gets 100% of merchandise income for their team within a radius, but anything outside it gets centralised?

I think at the moment that they're looking at the league within a league though to skew things in their favour more - we saw the fiasco of their "9 clubs have a vote, and you only need 6 of them" proposal.

I haven’t seen the figures for last year but quite a few teams generally seem happy just to spend the minimum salary level and count the dollars. In the bizarre world of NFL if you lose the first 5 games sometimes it’s best just to lose the lot and prioritise your position in the draft. Didn’t the Colts endure a virtually winless season when they knew they wanted Payton Manning out and knew Andrew Luck was sitting top of the draft. Contrived sport at its finest.

Funny thing is that ownership was never considered a barrier when scarlet clad teams were dominant.

Exactly- when Liverpool, United and to a lesser extent Arsenal we’re carving up all the top talent no one minded. Now you’ve got other clubs competing (yes actually competing) in a competitive sport they cry like babies. As a few have said - contrast the euphoria they accompanied Liverpool signing John Barnes from Watford with the derision heaped on us in respect of Grealish. The more these red twats cry the more we are hitting our objectives.

My mad United mate is adamant we are going to get trophies taken off us like juventus etc. Is he full of shit or could this happen?
