CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

No you don't, those types will always have the view we are dirty cheats funded with oil money.

Your wasting oxygen worrying about people like that and they are stealing it.

Correct.
Opposition fans will never let this entirely go.
It's a damn sight easier to believe your teams been cheated out of league titles, cups etc than the alternative...

Better to mock, the frankly stupid shit people come out with, rather than rising to it.

@Prestwich_Blue have you ever tried calling in to speak to Simon Jordan about City and FFP?

I've actually considered doing it myself, but I'm nowhere near qualified in comparison to you.

I know that Talksport are bear baiters and they want to wind people up so they call in. I wouldn't bother calling an Adrian Durham or Jamie O'hara, because they don't actually know what they're talking about.

Simon Jordan is a dickhead and a gobshite, but he clearly has some level of intelligence, and he actually seems to just be completely misinformed about City and FFP.

It's people like him, who have a voice and are capable of understanding what's really happened with City and FFP, who could make a difference with the great unwashed.

It’s a noble idea mate, but unfortunately it’s based on a false hypothesis.

Talksport has a set editorial designed to hit two simple objectives:

1 - optimising ad revenues by maximising listening figures for their incessant gutter brush ads, and;
2 - winding up as many witless football fans as possible til they’re triggered to phone in and pay the exorbitant call charge to get shouted down for 30 seconds before being cut off.

Based on the above, the editorial line isn’t about accurately representing the facts of any topic they’re discussing - it’s a pantomime, designed to bait the masses.

I’d be surprised if Jordan (or any of their pundits, for that matter) actually believes anything he says on that station. His job is to trigger, and to follow the editorial line he’s given. He’s a gob on a stick - nothing more.

You can’t reason with him in this role, or convince him of anything. I’m sure if you saw him in the pub, he’d have a laugh with you and say it’s all part of the job. He may even agree with what you’re saying.

But when he’s at work - like all of us, he’s doing what his employers pay him to do.

Taking the bait and phoning in with a cogent, reasoned argument isn’t going to get him to do an about face on air and admit he's in the wrong.

It isn’t going to ‘turn’ him to a position of advocacy for City’s business model or our ownership model.

He’d simply shout over you for 30 seconds, calling you a liar either too blind to see the truth, or a lackey in the pay of Abu Dhabi - and then the station would cut you off.

It’s a complete waste of time, and would achieve nothing as an attempt to change the views of the masses - as you say.

All fair and of course I agree about the business model.

But the truth is, if Simon Jordan or whoever, said adamantly on TalkSport that City had not breached FFP, at this point it would trigger far more people than saying they have.

The narrative is set, City are financial dopers and sportswashers and FFP cheats.

That’s why, ironically enough professional wum Adrian Durham actually says nice things about us. He knows it will wind more people up than if he just joins the bandwagon and says what everyone else is saying.

Simon Jordan is without doubt a gob on a stick. But he’s not a wum for wum’s sake like a Mike Parry or Adrian Durham.

He has at least a semblance of intelligence in there somewhere, his USP is that he’s actually got a bit of insight into the business side of football. So again, for the demographic of TalkSport listeners, he is an opinion leader of sorts.

Jordan mentions regularly about us failing FFP in 2011 and us getting away with it last time because evidence was time barred. I think he genuinely believes those things and isn’t in full possession of the facts.

If @Prestwich_Blue or someone else as well versed went on and filleted him with facts, I genuinely think it could have an impact and gain traction on social media afterwards.

PB doing a video like this where he picks apart all the FFP myths would be absolute social media dynamite!

Your idea on the video is a great idea, and would be a much better approach in my opinion as it removes his ability to simple shout over you or cut you off - and if it gained enough traction, it would very likely force him into a debate to respond to the specific points raised.

I maintain however that calling in and attempting any sort of direct debate while he’s on air would be a complete waste of time for the reasons already covered.

I do differ from you on the bit about him completely changing his position based on a rational argument though, as that assumes the position he’s taking is his to change - and I’m not at all convinced it is.

A pro-City position would undoubtedly trigger a slew of Liverpool and United fans to ring in telling him he was talking rubbish, but that would require the station to change its editorial line on City and FFP - which will be way above Jordan’s pay grade.

If the station could somehow be convinced to change its editorial position on this issue, I agree with you that this could do a huge amount to change the view of the average uninformed fan on our Club and FFP - but that’s nothing to do with Jordan.

I suppose it comes down to whether you believe Jordan genuinely believes what he says (your position) or whether you think he’s towing an editorial line based on the position his employers have told him to take (mine).

His role is as a supposed football finance expert, but I maintain this is simply the role he’s playing - the lines he’s given will be directed by his editors and producers.

I'm flattered you have such belief in my financial prowess and ability to get the message across.

But do you honestly think most of the people spouting these myths would change their minds, even if I did the most powerful and persuasive debunking of the various myths surrounding our FFP issues? I also strongly suspect, as others have said on here, that people like Simon Jordan have their brief from Talkshite producers. Jordan is bad cop to Trevor Sinclair's good cop.

Jordan is not a finance expert. He is actually a business failure who has re-invented himself as a pundit to try and pay the bills. When you listen to his comments it is pretty clear he doesn't understand the world of finance because he makes a lot of basic errors. His comments about City show he doesn't understand our business model.
He got lucky selling mobile phones. He's probably a brilliant salesman but in the world of finance he is a bluffer. Being a bluffer can help you go a long way these days. Look at the world of politics.

Spot on mate - it’s the role he plays in the pantomime that is talksport, but it’s just that - a role, a part in a play.

If he was a genuine finance expert, he wouldn't be rubbing shoulders with all the washed up alcoholics, wife beaters, serial adulterers and gambling addicts that populate that sorry fucking mess of a radio station - all of whom have shredded their finances so comprehensively that they have to trudge into the Sun’s offices every day through the rain and the cold to spout shit for a living to pay their child support bills, rather than kicking back in early retirement on some island getaway because they actually managed their finances successfully when they had them.

He’s a financial basket case - like every other waste of skin that makes a living on Talksport.

He’s the finance world’s equivalent of Jamie O’Hara.

Let that sink in before giving him too much respect.

A recent quote from Simon *Billy Big Bollocks" Jordan on Talksport:

"When I get some of these Man City fans or Newcastle fans piling into me on social media, I'd LOVE them to phone in... And you've seen me say it, come on and say it to my face or come in and say it to my face."

He was talking about a boxer having the right to pull people up for giving them abuse in the streets for no reason, other than they have no concept of accountability. Whereas, he is a bellend who makes inflammatory(often insulting) comments and presents an obnoxious persona for attention/a living. He's not even that tall or in good shape, I don't understand where this faux hardman belief comes from(probably another front that he doesn't even believe himself). Yet he's talking about others needing wake up calls, for calling him out for something he's said or telling him when he's wrong.

I can't believe nobody has phoned in and destroyed him for some of the plainly inaccurate statements he's made about City. There's plenty who know more about the subjects than him. At a guess, it wouldn't surprise me if they vet callers before putting them through to the waiting list, so they know he will be able to derail them easily. It always seems to be the case where hosts win the argument, even if they are wrong, which should tell you something.

A good salesman - bad businessman = Good bullshitter/gift of the gab.
