CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Like the Glazers he profited from mufc too. There was an investigation where the FA questioned why mufc were paying a fortune to his company for rent of land they never used.

Thanks Gary. I recall reading that Davies was their owner for 25 years and he ran them at a loss every single year. Maybe you can confirm or clarify that.

Really looking forward to Sunday Supplement this weekend. Our exoneration is bound to be one of the main talking points. Really hoping that Martin Samuel is on the panel against Miguel Delaney & Ian Herbert but I doubt the latter 2 would go up against Samuel. They know he would run rings around them & show them up for bellends that they are.

I’ve had a few exchanges on Twitter, nothing vitriolic, but the one thing that is common is their refusal to acknowledge any possibility that they may be wrong although when you school them, they shut down. Here’s an example.

“City are not a club with any heritage yet they act like one. Their success is entirely off the money given by a country, and in order to invest in them a lot of bogus companies have been used for the purpose of making this look legitimate.”

I put him right and asked about bogus companies.

“As for bogus companies weren’t there ghost companies found that were in fact owned by City’s owners? If everything they have done is legal, why have they been caught twice breaching the rules? Nothing you or anyone can say will ever be able to get around that.”
...
“As for Guardiola asking for an apology that sums the whole club up from top to bottom.”

well there you go. He didn’t want to exchange any further.

I cant work out what you are saying there, you seem to have posted their views but where is your own comeback?

Since the sentence by UEFA back in February (5 months) my gut has been constantly churning, nerves shredded, sphincter twitching. But I would go through it all again to see that not guilty verdict at the end & witness the complete meltdown by all those in the media & opposing fans & managers who wanted us banned & how they are crying & whinging seeing their big dream crushed. How utterly satisfying this week has been. I have had a permanent fixed smile on my face which I think I may need surgery to get it removed. All through this period they were so certain that we would get a ban. All the talk has been when not if we get banned or let's wait & see the result.

With the Goldman Sachs loan - Barca are effectively managing a debt of £1.5 billion! The interest payment alone on that is going to be circa £75 per season - then they have to pay the capital off too over 20 years on the £800m from Goldman's (another circa £40m a year) . I'm sure Barca have a wildly optimistic business case showing a whole range of new revenues streams from the new stadium etc. but often these are never realised. This venture will end in a local government bale out or bankruptcy - which as the OP has said will just mean the debtors get a few pence and Barca will carry on afresh without sanction. And where is FFP in all of this?

Id like to see Sheik Mansour lend them the money at favourable rates. Then watch teabag spontaneously combust :)

I think it's probably for the best that you admit that you just can't stand the bloke because he's a United fan.

Some people are so ridiculously entrenched in tribalism that they can't see how ridiculous they sound.

Sam is one of the good guys out there. And one of the few who actually defends City.

I don’t mind Sam. I think he posts in good faith and he’s a damn sight less biased about City than I would be about those dirty red twats.
