I’m so fucking tired of reading how evil city are, how we’re ruining everything by having the audacity to spend money.

But why not defend our position? It would be easy to publically say that both ourselves and the PL would have preferred to keep the legal discussions private because our reputation had been damaged by leaks from the previous UEFA case and malicious media campaigns. We could stress that we will be fully open and transparent when the legal process is complete. Our business had been attacked by negative media campaigns involving our commercial rivals in the past and for these reasons we are reluctant to share all our private business discussions with our commercial rivals. You get the jist. Saying "No comment" is an absurd position to take in the modern digital age. This is not an active criminal prosecution or even an active Civil Action yet so there is no risk of contempt of court. We are too passive.

You can't allow a negative or false story to fester. Khaldoon should do an interview or private briefing for starters.

I agree with the sentiment entirely but it's a bit late. We would be opening up a debate with 100% of the media and 100% of the football clubs, all of whom have something to gain by dragging this out. There is no rational debate to be had, no statement Khaldoon or anyone else could make that would stop the witch-hunt. Besides, there is an ongoing investigation the outcome of which we don't yet know. At least until it's over, I think we should maintain a dignified silence.

And if they succeed, we should release a statement revealing every skeleton in the whole shitty PL closet.
