Cashless society

If you want them to pay their VAT just tell them, obviously you do not mind paying more, but you will find you are talking about millions of self employed people trying to keep their heads above water, as for tax you will also find they are the ones paying a higher % of their income on tax.
Can't decide if your serious..
Tradies here live in huge homes and mostly drive massive new 80k Pick up trucks and have boats and 2nd cars like Porsches. I know a few from the footie club, one lad who's 26 just bought a house for a million bucks. Big mortgage but he put 200k cash of his own into it.

Most tradies in the building industry earn between 100 to 250k a year and claim for everything against tax. I often say to my wife, I wish I'd been a plumber or sparkie etc...Seriously if you have a construction trade come to Australia !

A new report has revealed Melbourne tradies are pocketing a whopping average hourly wage of $124, making them the seventh highest paid construction workers in the entire world. This means the average Melbourne construction worker would make $243,000 a year if they worked a regular 38 hour week.

I have been cashless for years now save for the local baguette shop and my barbers. I actually hate taking cash out to go in to both of those but the food is worth it and I cannot find a local barber near me that takes card. Any change I get I go straight into bookies and put an acca on for the exact amount I have left, I don't even own wallet that allows me to easily carry any cash.

Taxi drivers, most takeaways and corner shops, the last bastions of cash only are now slowly giving in.
You do know that Cash is now safer to use than Card, and has been for a couple of years now, where do you stand when the internet, power goes down as happens on a very regular and increasing time, or you or your bank gets hacked again happening more frequently, who owns the cash in your bank and what happens when the bank stops you buying that unhealthy baguette, that`s right you use cash.
A cashless society will bring on slavery, check the definition, cash does not stop it but it does slow those that are pushing for it now.

Yup, someone who can earn 60 quid an hour shouldn't be struggling.

And in Britain the tory government turned millions self employed, have you ever had the staff at the local restaurant refuse a tip because it takes them above the tax threshold, i have here, America and Australia, the ability to make money is not equal.

My apologies, what does your last sentence mean ?

It means places like Australia have trade deficiencies, the demand is high in those areas, so the ability to make money is high, but not for all, if Bill was to bother he could easily find trades people struggling, in Britain small businesses are going to the wall in record numbers, pretty sure the same in America.

I’m sure you’re correct in certain places, understanding the huge contrast in size of Countries is important. America and Australia are growing places, Britain, not so much. All there is here, is small entrepreneurs making their way, best they can, wanna work? You got it

Why should I bother looking for poor tradies ? You've just agreed with me that in Oz tradespeople are very well paid.

This all stemmed from me saying I'm sick of tradies avoiding tax doing cash jobs in Australia. I stand by what I said. It annoys me rich tradies avoiding tax in Australia when they have expensive possessions.
I have no idea what goes on in Salford.
A cashless society would probably put an end to all the fiddles (well, some of them)

Do you really think rich trades people bother to avoid VAT when they have accountants to avoid large % of all taxes,? a cashless society does not stop the rich avoiding taxes, those fiddles keep your costs down.
As an example of a cashless society, around 15 years ago the German federal reserve was robbed, 512 million of their currency was stolen, by believed Albanian special forces, no one was caught, around 10 years ago £263 million was stolen from a Swiss bank in London, they used a usb but got one digit wrong setting off alarms, most were caught. The difference is not the amounts or who got caught, in the German case they printed more money and increased counterfeit removal, in the Swiss case all traces of all transactions, had to be removed for them to get away with it, little to no chance of getting your money back, fortunately the usb was captured. The Americans have absolutely no chance of keeping your money safe.
