Catalonian referendum

right into their hand with their reaction. Is this the domino effect after Brexit? What say Flanders, the Corsicans and the Basques?
We live in uncertain times, I really don't know what the European framework will look like in ten years.

Dinosaurs will roam the earth after an asteroid strike woke up their hibernation.
Most old people will wear red armbands and outrageously comical hats whilst giving out beatings to foreigners.
Nurses will only shop at brighthouse and could only afford shopping from one of the newly formed skip-shops for the poverty class

Carles Puigdemont has flew to Brussels, he could be claiming political asylum

Honestly I did laugh. The guy promised his supporters independence, presided over his region losing its political autonomy and then fucks off to Belgium to hide out with Flemish nationalists. Seriously what a hero.

I suspect Che would not be that impressed!

He has now contracted a Belgian lawyer and seems intent on applying for political asylum although that hasn't been offically confirmed as it's both a diplomatically and politically sensitive issue.
You can always count on Flemish nationalists to stir up a shitstorm.

The situation is I see it now is not just about Catalonia but the rest of Spain as well.

The current independence movement has seemingly been quashed by the Spanish political establishment, and they appear to be bad winners with threats of imprisonment for treason being bandied about. They seem to be forgetting that there are somewhere around 3 million people who really do not like Spain at all living in Catalonia and a bit of humility would go a long way. Instead the Right in Spain is using this constitutional crisis to reassert itself. It is getting support from the Spanish Socialist party who in effect resemble New Labour and a party called Ciudanos who are wrongly described as centrists by the BBC. They are just as reactionary as PP.

But there are large swathes of people in Spain who would much rather have seen dialogue over this issue and can see a creeping fascist tendency entering all this. I personally think there is a lot of unfinished business in Spain. The Republic was defeated by Franco and then there was a transition to democracy. But the fault lines in Spanish society still remain and currently Franco's heirs are wrapping themselves in the Spanish flag.

Says something when The Tomb of the Fallen has quadrupled in visitors in the last 10 years

It's all gripping stuff this, but I think I'd claim asylum somewhere other than the home of the EU, he'll be about as welcome as Harvey Weinstein at a Girl Guides jamboree.
