The fact Mokbel can't even get his figures right should tell you this story is a flyer.

He's a London blagger, jumping on the recent quotes from Cavani's mum.

He has Carlos on close to £250k a week - how many times, it is already public knowledge that it is £198k a week following all his fines last season.

He goes on to write that he prefers Madrid over us. Let me tell you this, City would already have pulled the plug and won't get into an auction for any player.

It's well documented that he is a target and I do believe we stand a great chance, but this story is garbage, simply trying to take it forward by the usual City offer too much money line.

The problem with this (after being led to expect a significant transfer summer) is that taking this approach last summer cost us the league title. It disheartens me when I read this as this approach will only ensure similar failure in the market this time around.

Exactly. Good players create auctions. It's a byproduct of being good enough to be wanted by multiple top clubs.

I'd be more worried if we were getting free runs at players and no-one else was interested in them.

I say, break the bank for Cavani they guy is just pure awesome.

Some of those goals are truly spectacular, and I appreciate it's not every goal he's ever scored, but just look how many of those are scored on the counter. Must be 90% of them!

We're just not set up for that style of play, and I don't think the idea is to move in that direction either. Can he adapt to a more possession based style of football?

not quite, would still need to improve the midfield with probably two players.

Why dont yo look at it from the very fact how many goals he scores outside the penalty area when plenty of defenders inbetween? in every game we stop up and pass the ball sideways around the penalty area just to fail with a bad cross. its here isee Cavani as our X factor.

agree cavani would be a good signing, but it wont be to provide the x factor from outside the box.
we already have two of them in aguero and tevez who score spectacular goals from outside the box and make something from nothing.
the striker we need to sign is a prolific goalscorer when in the box, the player who will change the draws at places like qpr, stoke etc. into wins

Tevez City said:
Suarez over Cavani any day of the week.

They're different strikers. We're after a centre forward to replace Dzeko and Mario, we have our creative strikers who create their own chances (Aguero, Tevez). Cavani is much less wasteful than Suarez.

Cavani - 22 goals, 124 shots
Suarez - 22 goals, 174 shots

If Tevez (or god forbid Aguero) leaves then Suarez would be an ideal replacement.
