Cavani & Falcao

His basic would be well below that figure because that is how Soriano structures deals, that'd be the most he could make and is similar wage bracket to Tevez and Rooney, both of whom he scores more goals than.

Last summer people criticised us for missing out on targets... well, the reality is you have to pay top dollar to get them or they go to Real Madrid or somewhere. So if we want a top level striker we're going to have to get the dosh out. Considering he'd essentially be replacing two players (assuming Guidetti is #4 / we'd need another if Tevez leaves though) we'd actually be saving around £100k/week on wages for our strikers.

Blimey these numbers being thrown around are mind blowing. It's funny with Cavani I have been watching his national team progress through the qualifiers of the World Cup, and to be honest I have not sat their thinking that this is the player for us.

Nevertheless Txiki knows a lot more about football than me, and I trust his judgement. I have always thought that if we were going to splash top dollar then Falcao would be the one.

However I know that Mancini has always seemed to favour Cavani.

Even if we did give him 250k+ a week basic, we pay out nearly 200k a week on RSC and Bridge! and they haven't played for us for years!
Add in the 90k or whatever Kolo earns and that is Cavani's wages paid for and if anything we will save a bit on the wage bill but have one of the best strikers in the world at the club and have lost only one player who hasn't featured much and two who I can't even remember the last time they played for us.

But as has been said Soriano will structure it with it being heavily performance based.

Need to make sure that Ferguson doesn't trump us and pick him up at the airport!

-- Sat Apr 20, 2013 9:34 am --

Need to make sure that Ferguson doesn't trump us and pick him up at the airport!

Dont worry mate, they are not requesting donations.....!

Who gives a fuck about money, give him a blank check for all I care, just sign CAVAAAANNIIII!!!!

The fact Mokbel can't even get his figures right should tell you this story is a flyer.

He's a London blagger, jumping on the recent quotes from Cavani's mum.

He has Carlos on close to £250k a week - how many times, it is already public knowledge that it is £198k a week following all his fines last season.

He goes on to write that he prefers Madrid over us. Let me tell you this, City would already have pulled the plug and won't get into an auction for any player.

It's well documented that he is a target and I do believe we stand a great chance, but this story is garbage, simply trying to take it forward by the usual City offer too much money line.

Why the hell would City pay all this money to Cavani !

How much is Napoli are paying him now per week ?

I don't know what Napoli are paying him at the moment but two days ago, he spelt out (probably via his agent) to De Laurentis and the Napoli board what his financial requirement would be to remain at the club.

Amongst other things, he stated that the annual figure would be €7m a season.

I suspect that he is probably earning around €4.5m to €5m a year at present.

The likelihood of his present club meeting this demand is close to zero.

Napoli have already hinted that they are resigned to losing him at the end of the season. They have plenty of ideas on his replacement with a top class scouting system in force in South America where there are plenty of potential Cavani replacements available at a fraction of the €60m that Bayern have repotedly offered.

Clearly, the sum needed to obtain his signature will have to meet the release clause.

The provenance of the Daily Mail source and the integrity of the authors journalism is, not surprisingly, highly questionable.
