Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

Only watched the last 20 minutes. He didn't get many touches of the ball but when he did, he gave it away almost every time, and scuffed a shot the keeper palmed right to him, which ended up going to a team mate who had a decent effort saved.

3.15, never seen him pull off a touch like that for us.

Yes you have...you just don't have it in front of you on a video at this moment. Dzeko has scored many goals as good and better than this for City!

That goal starting at 3.00 is what Edin Dzeko is all about. He makes himself available, passes well, busts a gut to get in the right position, takes the ball in stride with a FANTASTIC FIRST TOUCH with his right foot and puts the ball away with his left foot.
This clearly shows Dzeko is a very talented player and is NOT lazy. He's definitely not suited to a team that requires its strikers to accept a full time defensive role too, but for some Cavani worshippers on here to just paint him as CRAP is clearly ridiculous.

That goal is just another confirmation for me that Cavani has a better touch, better pace and better mobility than Dzeko.

We have to sign this guy, mans a beast!

The first goal in this video would suggest Dzeko has the same qualities.

Just to balance the Cavani bumming when he clearly isn't worth anything more than £30m. He isn't better than Aguero.

He isn't better than Aguero and he isn't worth €60m, but he is better than Dzeko.

I value him at €35-40, €60m is outrageous.

I agree, his realistic Value is about £30M - £35M. but a players actual worth rarely comes into deals these days. Deals are made on the players value to his club and according to Napoli he is worth £52M and De Laurentiis is the kind of twat who will squeeze every single penny out of a buyer.

'Not lazy' would require putting in effort every game, & Dzeko doesn't, he picks & chooses the times when he can be arsed.

When he decides to work, he is as good as Cavani & better than Lewandowski.

Don't know why that makes him a twat, I want a tough negotiator doing after the transfer dealings at City.
I certainly didn't complain when we got .£20M for SWP.

Most of Džeko's goals on the clip are from wide crosses in, I'm convinced he'd thrive if we played with wide men which looks like Pellegrini's aim.
Still expecting Cavani though.

It seems Txiki is in the same boat as some on here, he isn't worth what they want hence why this is taking so long. If he was worth the value they have set we would have paid it but he isn't hence these lengthy negotiations.

Our offer was 25m and Dzeko apparently which is about right tbh. If Chelsea can offload Torres elsewhere then I will be slightly worried but right now I'm not.

A lot will depend on if Tevez stays or leaves, with one year left on his contract. Do you expect Txiki and Pellegrini to extend it for another 2 at least? Not if we can get Cavani in, but I wouldn't lost sleep if we stuck with Aguero, Dzeko and Tevez.

Tevez however is very silimar to Aguero, where Dzeko offers more options. I'm positive Pellegrini will make Dzeko a much better player than he was with Mancini. So if either Dzeko or Tevez would be sold to try and get Cavani in, I'd rather we sold Tevez than Dzeko.

Cavani has great workrate in the Tevez/Suarez mood, but is he worth the 50 million? I very much doubt it tbh.

I appreciate that this is a Cavani thread, but as so many are making comments about Dzeko, mainly derogatory, my view is that Edin thrived at Wolfsburg as (a) he played every week and (b) they played a faster and more direct style than we have. Despite all the moans about his first touch, and despite the fact he has started relatively few games, his minutes per goal ratio must be the best of anyone at our club, and that is despite not regularly starting, despite no penalties in his goals for us, and despite having sections of the crowd groaning at him, and despite our relatively slow build up play. So if he scores plenty with all of these things against him, what might he did, especially with a new coach and a new style of play? I have seen nothing personally in Cavani that guarantees he will be a £33M better investment than Dzeko, but I appreciate that I am in the minority. However if MP has faith in him, and if MP plays 2 up front regularly (which would remove the biggest barrier, regular game time), then we may well see an even more prolific Edin Dzeko next season
