To the people who say stop flapping, it's not the end of world if we don't get Cavani. Simple question: if you went it battle tomorrow who would you want stood next to you Cavani or Dzeko?

Agree with your statement. Cavani looks like a good fit at some price but it's not the end of the world if we don't him. But your closing question is too flawed.

Which team would make which player work? Would you prefer Leandowski to Dzeko? With Dortmund in Germany he's great, as was Dzeko. With Napoli, in Italy, Cavani is great. Horses for courses?

There is not even a single story in the media about us going for Rooney. We're not fucking stupid. Stop building castles in the sky to make yourselves feel better over the Cavani rumors.

now go crawl back in your hole please...

Those articles are nonsense... and Bleacher Report? hahaha....

One headline screams: Rooney to be Drogba replacement.

I mean, a kid has just banged in 17 goals in the Premier league and is owned by Chelsea.
Why bother when you have a 20yr old Drogba in your squad.

Can't really be bothered but just do a search now for Lukaku, the quotations from yesterday are there for all to see. Mourinho wants Lukaku there.

i wasnt trying to prove rooney was going to chelsea just the fact nono was saying there had been no media reports of which there had true or false.

Real Madrid up the ante in bid to sign Manchester City and Chelsea target Cavani

Real Madrid are stepping up their interest in Chelsea target Edinson Cavani. The Spanish club held talks on Monday with the Napoli striker's representatives in Madrid and are known to be the player's preferred option if they can meet the £53million buy-out clause. Chelsea have made two offers. The first was rejected and the latest is understood to be goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois plus £40m.

The Belgian is regarded as one of the best young keepers in the world and has already intimated a desire to spend another season loan at Atletico Madrid who are also keen to sign him permanently. Manchester City were also expected to bid for Cavani last night but Edin Dzeko may not now be part of that package. Incoming coach Manuel Pellegrini is, however, still expected to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Malaga's Isco after Madrid last night signed Brazil midfielder Casemiro for £5.1m from Sao Paulo.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 301 onwards)

If (and it's a big if) the media reports are correct that Dortmund are selling Lewandowski for 25m, why are we still pursuing Cavani?

We could get that fee down to 5-10m with Dzeko in exchange, that's where he wants to go anyway.

Compare that to paying a 63m buyout. That would be madness. Unless someone can convince me Cavani is worth 38m more than Lewandowski. Is he?

Because Cavani is world class compared to Lewandowski whom isn't?

Dzeko, Aguero and Tevez >>> Lewandowski. Individually of course. I could understand an argument against Tevez, only if you class him as a striker nowadays.

Wouldn't really help us would it?

Also, you're mixing euros and sterling with your figures.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 301 onwards)

What does Cavani do that much better than Lewandowski? He scored 66 goals last 2 seasons, compared to 71 for Cavani. And he's 2 years younger.

Humiliated Real Madrid too.

Luis Suarez: 22 goals, 160 shots, ~14% conversion rate
Edinson Cavani: 20 goals, 114 shots, ~18% conversion rate
Radamel Falcao: 21 goals, 88 shots, ~24% conversion rate
Robert Lewandowski: 19 goals, 79 shots, ~24% conversion rate

When you go deeper into decimals (hundredths, thousandths) Lewandowski has the best conversion rate out of him, Falcao, Cavani, and Suarez. Not to mention that Lewandowski is a better chance creator than all of the others except for Luis Suarez (Lewandowski - 26 chances created in 23 Bundesliga games, average 1.1/game; Luis Suarez - 79 [DAMN] chances created in 29 Premier League games, average 2.7/game)
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bayernzone.com/transfers/2273-robert-lewandowski-42.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bayernzone.com/transfers/227 ... ki-42.html</a>

I've watched both for the last couple years, and I just can't that big a difference.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News (page 301 onwards)

Cavani is pacey amongst other things and that's a huge asset.

Lewandowski is slowish not that great technically but has a good consistent touch. He comes alive with his movement and finishing. He's a rough ole Polish boy too, you saw how he harried our defenders. Had Komps all over the place.

I'd be over the blue moon with either.

I firmly believe that Dortmund are one of the best teams on the planet. Falcao, Cavani or even Suarez would probably have put them over the top for the league this year.

Lewandowski is good player but world class he is not. Cavani would score 35 goals in the Bundesliga for Dortmund.

Sam Wallace is worth listening to when it comes to Chelsea, he has an ear at the club
