Re: Cavani Speculation/News

LIVERPOOL are determined to fight off a £40million bid for Luis Suarez from Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants have contacted the striker’s agent Pere Guardiola, brother of new Bayern Munich boss Pep.

Suarez tops Real’s shortlist of strikers because he is cheaper than Napoli star Edinson Cavani, who has a £52m get-out clause.

But a senior Liverpool source said: “We will not sell Luis Suarez.

“Brendan Rodgers has said this on several occasions and the club will not entertain any bids be it Real Madrid or anyone else.

“Luis is one of the world’s best players and is not for sale.”

Despite that, Suarez, 26, could be tempted by the lure of Champions League football.

Real will table a bid once new manager Carlo Ancelotti severs his links with current club Paris Saint-Germain and takes charge at the Bernabeu.

We should throw an £80 million bid in for Peter Crouch, just to see if Real Battle us for him as well. Cavani, Isco,Suarez and still counting.

Just seen this myself and was about to post it - hopefully there is something to it as it could end their interest in Cavani.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

As a football fan I am disappointed that Falcao will not be playing in the Premiership, however at least he is not playing for one of our immediate English rivals.

Are we to really believe what Soriano reportedly said:

Neymar and Falcao? [These reports are] false, they have never been on our agenda

Neymar I can accept. £50m for a player who was always going to Spain and for whom Barca had already paid an upfront fee. But Falcao is an extraordinary talent. I don't get why we would not look at him, if it's true that we are prepared to pay a similar fee for Cavani.

If it wasn't for Aurelio de Laurentiis recent comments about talks for a Dzeko swap deal with Cavani, I would think that we were barking up the wrong tree entirely.

I just think we've got all our eggs in the Cavani basket.

Hopefully our faith in Txiki won't be unfounded.

Cavani's agent and the player himself wont make their decision based on the quality of Txiki's negotiating skills. It will be based on the overall propositions....if it gets that far

Though part of Txiki's job will be to look at alternatives. So if we have got all our eggs in the Cavani basket then that's bad news. I haven't a clue what forwards we are looking at, and I can't think of many better than what we have.

Perhaps transfers are not the solution. Aguero for example was way below par this season. As was Dzeko. Bayern won the Champions League with centre-forwards who are technically weaker than our forwards, but their team play is extraordinary.

If we fail with Cavani i'd like us to go with one of Benteke or Lukaku, much prefer Lukaku though.
I'm not really sure why we would want Cavani when we have Aguero

everything should be geared up to make the most out of Aguero who is one of the best

When Utd signed RVP, Fergie dropped Rooney deeper and had Rooney feeding RVP directly or feeding the wingers who feed RVP. There was a method to get the most out of the team.

If we signed Cavani, how would Aguero fit in? You could play them both, but as we've seen the play between Aguero and Dzeko doesn't really work, whereas Aguero and Tevez in behind works well.

If we weren't in for Falcao, then maybe we're not in for Cavani either.

It's the old smokescreen post again. Maybe A de L is using City to auction Cavani and we're happy to work on our other targets under the radar?
