When Utd signed RVP, Fergie dropped Rooney deeper and had Rooney feeding RVP directly or feeding the wingers who feed RVP. There was a method to get the most out of the team.
If we signed Cavani, how would Aguero fit in? You could play them both, but as we've seen the play between Aguero and Dzeko doesn't really work, whereas Aguero and Tevez in behind works well.
If we weren't in for Falcao, then maybe we're not in for Cavani either.

Yes. Dzeko got dropped after a bright early start and the season ended with Aguero up front and Tevez in behind. Neymar I can accept. £50m for a player who was always going to Spain and for whom Barca had already paid an upfront fee. But Falcao is an extraordinary talent. I don't get why we would not look at him, if it's true that we are prepared to pay a similar fee for Cavani.
