Some chatter about possible City interest in Lewandowski over the weekend. Really can't see it myself, much as I really rate this guy.

Offer Dortmund £20m + Edin, they won't turn that down. Would be up to the lad then.

Seriously?

They are valued around the same, surely?

Sure Lewandowski is out of contract next year.

A few media outlets in Germany today are linking BOTH us and United with him.

Would not like to see him end up at that shit hole.

Cavani now whoring himself to chelsea and mourinho..

I want him but if he doesnt want to play for us then fuck it..hope city walk away.
Was about to mention that as well. According to Sky he has said he would love to play for Mourinho.

Okay..he said it would be a pleasure to play for Mourinho and Pellegrini ffs Sky..He didn't pick out a single team or a manager.

Hopefully, behind the media frenzy, this has been sewn up,however,if not, then i'm also beginning to think we should look elsewhere.

The Pole would be perfect, and a straight Edin swap is good business for both clubs.

I don't believe it would be a huge downgrade on Cavani and would also leave us with cash and wages to strengthen elsewhere.

Just me who thinks a 20m or so deal for Benteke would be a much better all round deal for us than 50m plus on Cavani?

People talk about the huge inflation in value of guys like Cavani, Falcao etc over recent years and how there will be players available at much cheaper prices ready to take that next step.

Well Benteke certainly won't be just as cheap, but I can see his value rapidly increasing over the next few years. He's got pace, strength, great technical ability, and goals - as he's already demonstrating in both the premier league and for Belgium - a team on the rise where he is the main striker.

At the same time, he's not got the ego Cavani has developed and if he has a couple of poor games he wouldn't create half the fuss should he be rested for a game or so.

It makes both financial sense and footballing sense. Aguero should be our main striker. Benteke is an absolutely excellent alternative.

Spend the cash saved on Isco and an out and out left sided winger. If nobody is available just now, keep the money available for January for any reinforcements we might need then.

This season's Amir Zaki.

Seems to think highly of Pellagrini

Cavani has said before he doesnt mind who he plays for out of us and chelski.

So its really down to the money I guess unless anyone can sway his mind one way or another...sometimes the personnel touch is needed like Khaldoon speaking to the player in person and telling him about the project might help. Someone mentioned Abramovich has done this before with other chelsea transfers and got personally involved and that has helped

Dzeko + £10 million makes more sense. I value Dzeko at around 15-17.5.

Might be a bold statement but if Lewandowski comes to us, I believe he will be the top scorer in the prem next year. I rate him that highly

Manchester City eye cut-price Lewandowski move

The Polish striker has emerged as a potential target for the Premier League side, with both Bayern Munich and Manchester United struggling to secure a deal for the Dortmund star
By Paul Clennam

Manchester City are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski should they fail to capture Edinson Cavani this summer, Goal understands.

The Poland international's future remains up in the air after Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke poured cold water on his expected move to Bayern Munich on Sunday, insisting that Lewandowski wouldn't follow team-mate Mario Gotze in joining their Bundesliga rivals this summer.

"We want to find a good solution for all parties involved," Watzke told Bild on Monday. "That's why I will not say that he will definitely stay at Dortmund. I can say that he will not move to Bayern Munich in 2013, though."

And City, who held informal talks with Lewandowski's agent during last summer's European Championships, could look to swoop in on a cut-price move for the striker, who has only a year remaining on his current contract at Westfalenstadion that he is refusing to renew.

Etihad Stadium CEO Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain still consider Napoli's Cavani as their ultimate strike target this summer, but have seen a move for him stall after failing to agree a £50 million-player-plus-cash deal involving Edin Dzeko, as exclusively revealed by Goal.

Cavani has also indicated both publicly and privately that he would prefer a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona over a switch to the Premier League this summer.

City are keen to move Dzeko - who they value at £20m and who earns £110,000-a-week in Manchester - on during this transfer window, and he sees Dortmund as an ideal destination and as such could be used in any move for Lewandowski.

Speaking in May, Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp conceded that Dzeko is a target Bundesliga outfit would "think about" should he become available, and hinted that he would suit the club's long-term aims.

Lewandowski has bagged 66 goals in 99 games during his last two seasons at Dortmund, and impressed City officials when the teams played each other in the Champions League group stage last term.

Former City boss Roberto Mancini also considered Zlatan Ibrahimovic as an alternative to the Uruguayan striker this summer, but it is understood that City would be unlikely to sanction a move for the Paris Saint-Germain striker after the Italian was sacked following their FA Cup final defeat to Wigan in May.
Manchester United have also been long-term admirers of the 24-year-old, but need to make space in their squad, with Wayne Rooney's future still unclear despite his desire to leave Old Trafford ahead of next season.

Bayern moved ahead in the race to sign Lewandowski earlier this year but Dortmund are loathe to sell to their rivals after Gotze's forthcoming move to the Allianz Arena soured relations ahead of the Champions League final at Wembley in May.

Meanwhile City are set to confirm the announcement of Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager in the next few days, with Jesus Navas and Fernandinho already on board to join the club this summer.

If we were to do a swap deal it would have to involve no cash, straight swap, dzeko for lewandowski, both very similar in abilty, therefore no point in doing a deal at all to be honest!
