I'd happily stick with Dzeko Tevez Aguero and Guidetti as our main 4 next season.
Have you seen Guidetti? Tevez is slowing down.

It wouldn't be a disaster to start with Aguero and Dzeko, but I wouldn't think we'd win the League

were short up front, but not sure it warrants 50 mill on Cavani, maybe some back up similar to Benteke might do the job.

after seeing the way guidetti played 2 seasons ago in holland, i'd definitely be happy with him being one of the 4 strikers (bayern were looking at him during this period). will be interesting to see if he's back to that form next season after his illness tho.

Van Persie got 30 goals last season, not 50.

Aguero scored the same number the previous season, Dzeko always gets goals good or bad, Tevez always gets a decent number.

I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer another striker to sign, but we lost the league last season because the team & manager performed at a lower level than they are capable, not because of Van Persie.

If we had done our job, we would have been right next to the rags. It was a poor season & they cashed in. We could, & should have done the same.

Do you not rate Guidetti then?

Wouldn't be a disaster to start with that four next season. Besides, where the Champions League is concerned, those already in or v close to being confirmed are more important to progressing than a striker.

Having a fully fit Guidetti would be the same as adding a new player to the team. Nobody yet knows how good this lad could or couldn't be and that is what makes it worth the gamble.

If the he can get fit quickly enough. Has he not picked up a knee injury now ? That plus the interruption in his fitness routine recovering from his illness, could delay his start to next season.

Been really unlucky. I'm sure he would have got his chance already had he been fit.

There seems to be a myth that they won the league because of van Persie. In fact last season they scored 86 and got 89 points, 3 goals less than the season before and the same points so Van Persie made little difference.
They won the league because our goals were down from 93 to 66 and our points from 89 to 78.
Its is not the case that 1 striker can win the league goals need to come from throughout the team.

I still think that Cavani will sign a new contract at Napoli after the Confederation's Cup.

Just me who thinks a 20m or so deal for Benteke would be a much better all round deal for us than 50m plus on Cavani?

People talk about the huge inflation in value of guys like Cavani, Falcao etc over recent years and how there will be players available at much cheaper prices ready to take that next step.

Well Benteke certainly won't be just as cheap, but I can see his value rapidly increasing over the next few years. He's got pace, strength, great technical ability, and goals - as he's already demonstrating in both the premier league and for Belgium - a team on the rise where he is the main striker.

At the same time, he's not got the ego Cavani has developed and if he has a couple of poor games he wouldn't create half the fuss should he be rested for a game or so.

It makes both financial sense and footballing sense. Aguero should be our main striker. Benteke is an absolutely excellent alternative.

Spend the cash saved on Isco and an out and out left sided winger. If nobody is available just now, keep the money available for January for any reinforcements we might need then.
