You must have missed that other striker we have?

The one they call Aguero ;)

Aguero, Lewandowski and Cavani - the perfect mixes and plenty of game time for all.

Selling our best youth product in years wouldn't be very holistic, would it?

What message does it send to the rest of the academy?

He's far from our best youth product at present.

Guidetti will always be a goalscorer, no doubt, but more in the Steve Bull or Andy Mutch category, and not at the very top level.

I've seen nothing to suggest he will be good enough. Recall the same being said about Chad Evans ;)

Who was lad who signed for West Brom the other year, another touted as a top player.

Genuinely can't remember his name?

Guidetti is majorly over-rated on here. Simply not good enough imo.
Having watched him about ten times in 11/12, I would say that he's definitely good enough for our squad. And when fit, he'll only get better.

Not for me. I'd be amazed if we go into the new season with Guidetti as 4th striker, let alone 3rd.

He looks too slow and bulky for me. A decent finisher but you need more to make it at the highest level. Hope I'm proved wrong but would be worried if we were relying on him to be our 3rd/4th striker next year. We need to loan him to another prem team to see how he gets on.

Why not for you?

Because I don't rate him. See THs post above.
Aye but TH's post didn't actually provide any reasons why he wouldn't become a good player at the highest level did it?

Lacks a bit of pace? Yes. But he's not slow. Good first touch? Yes. Is it as good as van Persie's or Zlatan's? No, but it doesn't fucking bounce off him like one of our current strikers. Surprisingly skilful? Yes. Can link up the play well? Yes.

Most importantly, knows the penalty box and scores goals? Yes.

Oh, and strikers are the most egotistical of all footballers. You couldn't accommodate three world-class strikers in one squad.

Lewandowski is almost certainly staying at Dortmund for another 12 months.
Read their statement. Lewandowski wanted Bayern. Therefore he will almost certainly stay at Dortmund and move to Bayern in 12 months. Anything else is just fanciful
£20 bet he doesn't stay.

That is completely not what they say.
They don't rule him out going to another club but state that he's not going to Bayern. They acknowledge he wanted to go to Bayern. Therefore I think the strongest assumption we can make is that he will go to Bayern in 12 months

Dortmund might want to replace him now so that in 12 months they don't have to sell to Bayern for nothing, but the player is not meat and his intentions are known.

the level of fawning over guidetti on here is frankly embarrassing. The guy is no more than average, good enough for mid-table, that's all.

I don't see fawning. I see a number of people who want the lad to be given his chance.

Indeed. It's not like anyone is saying "Fuck Cavani/Lewandowski, get Guidetti playing ahead of Kun instead".

Also being realistic with regards to how Pellegrini could manage four strikers who would expect to play 90 minutes weekly.
