Desperate an Dear oh Dear were 2 of the comments directed at Cavani from Lawro.

Staying at Napoli.

I think our money would be much better spent buying Thiago 15 mil and Benteke 25 mil. to go along with Isco instead of 50 mil on Cavani. I worry about signing a guy on that high a transfer fee. It ends up hanging over their head. Trying to live up to the transfer fee. They end up trying too hard, play a bit selfish to justify the move etc.. I'd rahter go for the younger player who is going to improve and could set us up for the enxt 10 years instead of another short term big money player that we will have to replace in another 3 years.

Cavani looks like his confidence has completely gone playing Uruguay, he does not look 10% of the player he does at Napoli.

Maybe this move is playing on him, it's like he is trying too hard to impress.

Good point this. Same happened with Schevchenko, Torres, Carroll and others. The pressure that kind of price tag puts on a player is a major issue. Once a striker starts doubting himself, he's in trouble. Imagine what it would be like if someone has forked out stupid money on him?

He misses chances like this all the time for Napoli, as I've said before.

He is by no means deadly in front of goal. He just gets a shedload of chances at club level.

Yet his goal/chance ratio is a lot better than our current strikers....

He hasnt made the move yet though, that is worrying if the thought of a big move give his legs a wobble.

Or he doesn't fit with his national team. It's not an answerable question at this point.

True and you wouldnt be reaching into your pocket for £40 mil for Suarez on these displays.
But the opportunities Cavani had you would expect more.
