Doesn't appear ANY club thinks Cavani is worth the outright cash price.

£40m seems to be the top line for both us and Chelsea, before makeweights, at present.

Can't see us going all in, unless we can now make a quick sale on Dzeko, elsewhere, which seems remote at this stage.

City gave them a two-week deadline so they must be confident it will not impact us that greatly by moving on.

when was the two week deadline made for? i.e. two weeks from 10 days ago, two weeks from 5 days ago, etc?

Whatever the merits of Dzeko as a player, he MUST be sold this summer.

We are in a similar situation to Mario, soon in to the final two years of his contract and very dangerous territory.

Dzeko is a depreciating asset for us, even if he stays and scores 40 goals next season.
All that would do is increase his own bargaining position with other clubs, as his fee would be even more reduced with 12 months remaining.

Mario had no intention of signing a new deal, Dzeko, likewise.

I will always be thankful for his goals at crucial times and would wish him well wherever he ends up, but if we can get £20m, we will have done brilliant business.

But nobody want to Dzeko. Dortmund not need, Juventus not need...and so who ?

If he scored 40 goals next season there would be a queue for him stretching half way down the M1!!!
If I remember correctly RVP fetched pretty decent money with a year left on his contract and on the back of only one admittedly excellent and injury free season.

City won't let it get to this stage. If Pellegrini persuades him to stay, a new four year deal contract has to be offered this summer.

Good grief, what a horrid thought.

Can't blame the guy for not wanting to go to Naples but we need rid of him.

Don't think Milan can afford the fee we'd ask for dzeko tbh. They're having to sell robinho before they even place a bid for tevez and will probably lose him to juve. Galliani is in Monaco to try and sell the KPB so maybe they can get the russian to finance their bid for them

It depends on whether Dzeko starts to feel nostalgic. The streets of Naples would probably make him feel as though he was back in war torn Bosnia.

I can see this Cavani situation becoming a bit of a stand-off, with the clubs involved baulking at shelling out such a hugh fee.
Napoli, could become panicky as the window ebbs away and still no sale.
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be getting anywhere near Cavani, as we'd be wanting to use Dzeko as a makeweight who will not be going the other way by the sounds of it and even if we were to sell him, I very much doubt we'll part with the hefty amount of money being seeked for Cavani.
As Tolmie suggested, we need to sell Dzeko now or offer him a new deal.... I would rather sell and find a cheaper alternative to Cavani, unless Napoli lower the asking price.

I think the only strikers potentially available who would be an upgrade on Dzeko would be Cavani, Lewandowski or Suarez. All would be expensive, so if we want to improve we have to pay the money. It's not like we can't afford it!

There is bound to be a couple of left field choices other than Cavani. As supporters we will choose players we have heard about but looking at City's MO we will probably use our scouting network more or sign one or two of Pellegrini's recommendations.
