How does the expiry of a release clause, albeit a very high one, reduce his fee?

If he's sold, it will be because Napoli realise their playing asset's reputation is being diminished through his performances for the national team, and they have identified a replacement

If City really want Cavani best to sit tight for the moment. Move now, and Real Madrid and CFC may follow. If they go elsewhere,we can move when there are no other bidders and get him for a cheaper price, if Napoli wish to sell.

Perfectly timed release of info today to suggest we are after Suarez. Unless real are offloading Ronaldo too, then they will have to show their hand sooner than they would have liked. Personally I think cavani or Suarez would suit us fine, so we can afford to make this play. If real want Suarez they have to move too, player evidently wants to go there anyway, but that would leave napoli with one less suitor, and seemingly a minimum release clause that runs out on cavani at a terrible time for them.

Personally I do think de laurentis does want to sell this time, and reinvest. I predict Suarez to real, cavani to us, Torres to napoli. And unfortunately dimaria to Chelsea to complete the merry go round.

It has taken me a while but I reckon ADL does not want to sell Cavani at all, irrespective of what the player is saying. By the time Cavani gets back to training he will say look I know you wanted to go and I tried but no one to buy you or the deals were not in the interests of the club. How about a nice little contract to prove your worth to Napoli.

Cavani wants out badly, just look at his latest comments... the most transparent "come and get me" pleas you will ever see. This could get nasty if ADL doesn't lower the price.

I still think cavani is possible. Napoli will be gutted in my opinion if there stuck with him at the end of the window when they could have had 40 mill.
