Having a longer think about this I think this is how it is with the whole Cavani saga:

Cavani's missus wants out marriage and Italy.
Cavani's agent, his mum and dad have all let leak he wants to leave.
This leak prompted Man City, PSG and Real to begin to get serious about personal terms with Cavani's agent.
Man City & PSG have agreed personal terms with Cavani but no one has dared to go all out for the buyout clause in order to beat the other due to FFP. Real Madrid quiet...?
Real Madrid might be the true target and City and PSG being used as tools for Cavani to get to Real.?
OR
Cavani wanting any of Man City or PSG to agree fee and take him out of Napoli, hence agreeing personal terms with both. Fee is the biggest hurdle.

Remember, Cavani agreed to this huge buyout clause because he was a) seduced by that c*nt Aurelio De Laurentiis b) he was happy with his wife and kids in Napoli but with her going he wants out and a fresh start.

Just my guess...

City will be well aware of Cavani's needs and demands, they've been tracking him for a while now, this isn't a jump on the bandwagon approach

Who was the chap who let txixi in a restaurant earlier this year?

Was cavani on the list of players we were getting? ;)

that was me
I can't create my own threads so i will post in all concerned

I was out dining last night at Australasia , sat on the table next to me
was Txiki Begiristain .

I was having the craic with him and i give him 5 names and he replied as follows

Messi - No
Neymar - Off to Barcelona
Isco - Yes
Cavani - Mancini likes him
Falcao - Yes

Taking it all with a pinch of salt but these were his words

Summer is going to be great this year, so many transfer rumours.

To stop a repeat of this season we need to sign a world class striker. Saurez, Cavani or Falcao are the only ones that really fit the bill imo.

for the amount we'd have to pay though, why not offer that for bale?

i know who i'd rather have, bale is the next ronaldo and i'm not joking when i say that.

Spot on a Madrid player

Agree

I'll be equally gobsmacked if Levy done business with another English club in the sale of Bale, he refused to deal with Chelsea on the sale of Modric, hence the reason Modric was so pissed off, i can see the same thing happening with Bale.

Don't get me wrong, i would love him at City but Levy is the stumbling block not Bale

I'm sure Spurs would not want to sell to an English club but Levy is a money grabbing so and so...

Didn't they accept a lower offer for Modric from Madrid compared to Chelsea's?

I don't think Cavani is worth more than £20m so these figures are ridiculous.

People, including me are frustrated with Dzeko yet Cavani isn't dissimilar in some ways to him, so to pay this much for that player makes no sense to me.

I'd rather stick with Aguero + Tevez as lone strikers and sign some creative attacking players to generate width.

Aguero is a £38m player.
Tevez is a £15-20m player due to age (and being slighter lesser in ability than Aguero).

We should really have someone like a Niang as an understudy for the bench, as opposed to a Dzeko who gets stroppy if he doesn't start(even though he is only any good when as a sub (when opposition sitting deeper)).

Most teams don't have that many front line strikers.

Barcelona: Villa, and that's it, supported by a vast no. of attacking players.
Real: Benzema or Higuain and that's it.

Our problem is lack of width and slow midfield (yaya+barry highlighted v spurs). Spending millions on a new striker won't solve these problems.

Even Utd only have 3 strikers. RVP, Rooney, Hernandez. - Hernandez as a bench warmer and last resort, an ever present in RVP, and Rooney who often plays in midfield rather than up front. Welbeck only ever plays wide and has just 1 goal all season long.
