Yeah we heard that yesterday to and then cavani and psg denied it, so today he has and then tommorow he hasnt!

Just attempting to get as close to that 'buyout' as possible i'd guess.
He's not going to PSG ppl need to realise that the French league is a step down from serie a... Why change teams only to move down in league status. He's coming to us or Madrid and probably us since Madrid have to move on one or both of their strikers

Completely different imo. There weren't many suitors(if any) for him if I recall and that move reeked of a money grab tbh. I just don't see the attraction of playing in ligue 1. don't disagree pal, the whole lavezzi / ibra deals were IMO completely money oriantated and i hope this one dosen't go the same way, but money and lots of it talks :(cmdub said:Completely different imo. So if Chelsea are getting Falcao, it's a straight race between us and Real for Cavani... unless Real try and get Aguero (please, no...) in which case it might just be us:

Cavani shouldn't be judged solely on his Uruguay performances. Yup. If he can adapt, which I think he has the ability to do, we could have a 25-30 a season goal scorer for the next 6-7 years. He's far superior to Dzeko who even manages to score quite a few and our system is likely to become more mobile and expansive which will help a target man.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has ruled out a move for Manchester City target Edinson Cavani and insisted that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain at Parc des Princes.
The Ligue 1 leaders are one of several sides to have been linked with a summer bid for the Napoli forward, who has refused to commit himself to the Partenopei beyond the end of the season.
However, Leonardo is adamant that there will be no approach from PSG for Cavani, this season's top scorer in Serie A.
"The Uruguayan is not our goal this summer," the Brazilian told Sky Sport Italia. "You should not expect a sensational transfer market [from PSG] because we already have champions."
Leonardo, who has been linked with a return to Inter of late, was just as definitive when it came to discussing his own future in the French capital, as well as the possible departures of Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi.
"I will stay in Paris next year in the same way as Ibrahimovic and Lavezzi," the former AC Milan star added.
"I have a good relationship with [Inter president Massimo] Moratti, but I don't have the intention of returning to Italy.
"If there are many teams interested in them [Ibrahimovic and Lavezzi], it just means that we had a good transfer market last summer!"
Leonardo added that Carlo Ancelotti will only leave the club if he wants to.
"We want him to stay, but his future is in his own hands," he revealed.

The largest reason that PSG won't be going for Cavani is the 75% tax band that he'd be subject to.
That means that - in order to match the 250-odd k wages that we pay Tevez & Yaya (I can only assume that he'd be on about the same amount), they'd have to shell out about 53m per year in wages alone.
Then add in the 60-65m release clause, and even with Qatari backing they don't have the money to do it and keep Ibra, Silva, Lavezzi, Menez, Motta & Veratti.
Our competition comes from Spain, and mainly from Real (as we saw yesterday, Barcelona need to take a serious look at their defense and defensive-midfield before anything else), as not only do they negotiate their own TV deal, but the high-band tax rate is 52% (much closer to the 45% high-band tax rate in the UK).
