Celtic game - strict security measures announced (page 34)

Its really a good job nothing rested on the result of this game. For that reason I was surprised that people took offence and didn't use it as an opportunity to build bridges and be friendly. I had them both sides of me and in front and behind. They were all fine and we had a good chat about football, Rodgers, UEFA, Maanchester, Patrick Roberts.

By the way I didn't hear much of the sectarian songs mentioned a couple of pages ago.

I was there, had a few around me, some were bellends and some were ok, though that's no different to any home game surrounded by City fans these days.

I don't really get the outrage on here, unless I've missed something.

Can understand the distaste at their songs etc but that was always going to happen, that's just who they are, don't think it has any real relevance to the amount of away fans in the home end.

Not wanting to antagonise, but people really get far too wound up about absolutely fuck all these days.

I'd understand the outrage if it meant City fans couldn't get tickets and there were away fans all over the shop, but there were plenty of tickets still available to the best of my knowledge. SSL3 was half empty. If that's not the case I'll stand corrected.

Loads near us in 211 (in the next block along). Celebrated their goal as you'd expect, but no real mither after that. One or two scuffles but nothing major. Thought their support was impressive tonight, pretty loud throughout. Bit giddy for a dead rubber though, and the phone light thing was wank. Like a Take That concert.

Asked the 5 or 6 sat next to me did they think they come to see Robbie Williams and got the wrong night??

They were all reasonably OK, i actually didn't mind being able to have a bit of football banter at an actual game, when they scored they obviously jumped up, couple of blues lost their rag, i just told the couple near me to let them have their moment as it wouldn't last, it didn't. They applauded Kelechi's goal and were fairly good natured.

Only downside was the Scottish accountant next to me he kept wanting to discuss our money and the relevant disparity in squad costs, went quiet after i asked him about theirs and Falkirks...

Might as well have been sat in their end the amount of Celtic sat around me.

In all honesty most of them were sound. But after the lights went up in the 67th minute there was a definite change in the atmosphere, they were obviously galvanised by seeing how many they had all over the place.

It actually got to the point where I was hoping we wouldn't score because it would have kicked off.

Agree with pretty much everything said here Mark, too many people in our end desperate to get wound up over something, anything.

I was the seat next to the (official) away fans tonight South Stand level 1 and there were loads of Celtic fans in with us, probably just walked round to be next to their own fans to be fair, most of them kept quiet and there was no problem a few younger lads were joining in with every Celtic song and got turfed out after about 60 minutes. I've been in many a home end down the years and as ive never taken the piss ive always been absolutely fine.

The ones who got giddy singing Celtic songs and celebrating scoring would have known the potential for getting a slap so did so at their own risk which ive no problem whatsosever with.

Just an aside about SS Level 3 blocks 314, 315 and 316 didnt get put on sale until very very late in the day my season ticket is in 314 and I was relocated as City never intended to open it unless there was a large demand for tickets

Disappointing to see the number of away fans in the home end, but nothing new from them. They managed it at Liverpool a few years ago and at United. Doesn't help that so many blues swerve these games but for a dead rubber game it was always gonna happen - as was them having fans in our end. The irony is some blues from Scotland actually had their tickets refunded because of their address in Scotland. Madness.

Yeah, I don't really get the outrage either. It's not like Celtic fans getting tickets prevented City fans from attending. I enjoyed last night - it was a good atmosphere and didn't see any real trouble. But for the Celtic fans the ground would've been half empty and people would be complaining about the attendance instead this morning. They were generally alright, so live and let live I say. It's no different to what we did in the late 90s at some lower league grounds.

Did anyone hear the Celtic Fan on Jim Wyatt's TS Show this morning claiming that he had about 10 Tickets in the City End thanks to his friends in Northwich?
So presumably his "friends in Northwich" will be looking at three match bans if the Celtic fans made themselves known? That's what happened to a Blue who got a ticket for an Everton fan for the semi-final last season.
Or perhaps our more "enthusiastic" fans didn't bother last night?

Some on here won't remember that.

Mock outrage. Its the way of the world now.

Nothing really serious last night. A few incidents that were stopped as quick as they started. Stewards not the best but most are young kids or older blokes. One scared to get involved, one thinks it not worth a punch. They need better training.

City have an obvious problem selling tickets for these games plus controlling actual sales.

My view is the club is not arsed who is in the ground. Similar to Spain so maybe it stems from there and who is in charge. Or maybe it just money talks.

Don't really see the issue. Saw some real idiots on both sides last night. Grown men shouting scottish scum at Celtic fans at one point in the main stand. They literally had cone nothing wrong. Sure Celtic would have had a number of idiots too but don't think it was too bad.

In 109 soon after kick off there was some trouble down at the front. I'm near the back so couldn't see what was happening but soon after a steward walked past escorting a Celtic fan. Then to our amazement about 25 more were led out who all must have been in a group. They were taken into the away fans area from what we could see. Then when they lit their phones, I couldn't believe how many there were. You expect a few but there were Celtic fans in just about every part of the ground.

Ferran Soriano & Danny Wilson should be sacked for what happened last night. It was utterly inept but, more importantly, potentially put our fans in danger. For once, I'm completely on UEFA's side on this.

I plutonically love you, PB. All this "it helped add to the atmosphere" stuff. It ruined it for me. I was on edge throughout and watching my back.

Blackburn away promotion game , thousands of City in every stand.

Becoming a bit precious these days isn't it.

Fucking joke.

When the lights on their phones were lit up nearly 50% of the ground were doing it. That's Celtic fans plus probably some who didn't do it and managed to restrain themselves!

Absolute joke that that many managed to get into the ground. The 'strict' security measures were a joke and all.

50%!! not a chance - 10% max.

A few Celtic fans in front of me last night. Seemed decent - they supported their team - nothing OTT - think one or two city fans over reacted - it was a dead rubber so almost like a pre season game.

Plus there were City fans all over the Nou Camp for the first CL game against Barcelona. We don't seem to have such an issue with it when we're the ones doing it.
