Celtic Thread - 2021/22

Sounds remarkably like what liverpool fans are saying about us this morning

There's a difference. You make Euro Semi finals regularly, only last year made the final, and know its only a matter of time before you win it.

MP can correct me if I'm wrong but I think Celtic have made 1 Euro Final in 50+ years. They are special for a Scottish club, as they don't come around very often, whereas Celtic or Rangers win the league EVERY year. There's been theatre productions and all sorts made about Celtic in Seville, that's with a defeat as well.

Celtic will enjoy their league title, they deserve to. Any time you beat your rivals to a title is sweet. In normal circumstance Rangers fans would be fuming. But not this season. Could be a rare occasion when both fans are happy. Wouldn't that be a good thing!

Yes one, and the theatre productions were about the journey and how we acted whilst there. On our last day, we stood outside the wee bar we had left a considerable amount of euros in, the old guy who owned it came out when we wanted to settle the bill and refused payment. Three old Spanish women walking by started talking to us and hugged us all, all I could make out was Gracias. It was magical, we went toe to toe with the team who won the CL the next year. Apart from their cheating and diving, which they didn’t need to do, they were a class team. We did lose, but unlike you in Manchester, we took them on.

We both know winning the CL is more of a fantasy than my big blue nose pal getting his hair back, for me, getting there is a win. Hopefully Ange buys more gems and we can have a go. Getting 3rd place is another win and anything more and I will probably pass out.

Aww, that's lovely. :-) Like I said, I went to Manchester, seen not a jot of bother, & the locals were in their gardens clapping us on our walk to the ground. Sure, if you were involved or witnessed the disorder after the screens went down, your memories are different. Mine are what they are & I'll cherish mine.

For me, the optimum thing Scottish clubs can do until the revenue gap is closed, is qualify for the Champions League and get the money involved, finish 3rd & drop into the Europa League, where we can be more competitive and actually have a chance of competing & going far in the tournament. Of course when I say we, I mean us given your recent record. ;-)

Your visit to Manchester left a bad taste among many of the locals. I doubt too many of the small business owners in the city centre, whose premises were trashed, would feel like clapping you. And Celtic fans, while not as bad, won't win many popularity contests in Manchester.

Like I said, my experiences were before the trouble started. It's obvious that the view would change after the troubles. Not sure 200k pissed up Brits travelling to any city would be looked on favourably to be honest, especially when you anger them by turning off fan zone screens.

So; it was the organisers' fault? Riiight. I don't envy the locals in Seville what is coming.

I am probably in the minority when I say that it would be interesting if one of the big two Scottish clubs came into serious money and I would welcome the resumption of the Anglo-Scottish rivalry at club level.

No, thanks. Don't want either of them in the PL. Those two sets of fans are stuck in some sort of /17th/18th/19th/20th century timewarp. Let them keep their backwards sectarian bullshit where it belongs.
