I did a comedy gig a few years ago in a place called Largs, West coast of Scotland. Two lads at the front asked me more than once "are you blue or green". Initially I ignored it but once the audience were aware of it being asked more than once I had to address it.
I said " look lads, I come from England where we don't really give a shit about religion. It's a shame that a country that gives us top physicians and inventors, is still dominated by neanderthal sectarian bollocks".
I got a round of applause from the rest of the audience and continued. Afterwards a fella came up to me and said you dealt very well with the 2 Neds, and you're right about the backwardness of sectarianism. He introduced himself as Ian Durrant and said he was in Largs doing his coaching badges.
