Guy showed ambition to go from Australia to Japan and then from Japan to Scotland. If he goes to Spurs now, then his ambition will be rewarded again.

He is not getting a job at City , United , Liverpool , Arsenal , Chelsea or Newcastle based on anything he can achieve at Celtic. Spurs would normally be out of reach and he would maybe go to a decent mid table side at best. That is about as well as successful performances in the scottish league is currently judged - might be harsh but its a fact.

If your point is you think he would be better waiting for a Brighton , Palace or Brentford opportunity you may well have a point but not sure his stock will ever be any higher than it is now whilst in Scotland.

If your point is he might qualify for the knockouts in CL and get a top 6 offer then thats not gonna happen.
He will be as underestimated down there even more than he was here, a lot more. He proved everyone wrong. His system depends on fast, technical players, moving constantly, etc. With a budget like theirs I believe he woukd imorive them. But it takes time and Spurs won’t give him that. If he does well, thanks for the backing re champions league hopes, in the CL, getting to the last 16, or a credible 3rd, with our budget? Leeds spent more last year than we have since I could walk. It’s about recruitment and he knows what he needs. Give him the resources he will deliver. Resources and time.

You’re deluded if you think this will be his only offer if he does well in the CL. The reason is simple, the risk. The history of Spurs and their managers relationship with Levy. The fans not wanting him and the lack of time before they turn. To someone who doesn’t understand the particular dynamics of taking over that club, it would seem a cert. But, let’s hope he’s smarter. A big bag of Gold will be no use when he gets fired. Why should he rush? Celtic wil have already offered to increase his salary. He is still n the CL, he has money to spend and he can wait one more season and be offered a job at a more stable club. That would be the smart move, the deluded move would be to see the glitter only and ignore the shit.

Plenty of managers have a good run with one team, get a move to a bigger club, usually in trouble and find out they fucked up. Only the deluded jump in to a shark pool. I choose to take in all the variables then weigh them up. That’s why I came to my conclusion. Based on the history of that club, the chairman, the turnover in managers and their fans. You buy into all of it. Spurs is a job for managers who want a payday. Some are blinded by their own ego. For the last 30 years all of the variables mentioned have crushed every single manager. All that glitters and is not gold.

I was being generous saying 4x too.. He'd probably make 5-6 x as much. So even if he gets fired, he'd have gotten 5 years worth of pay in 6-12 months. Then he can go to a Brighton or another lower tier PL team and make more than he's currently on too.

SO yeah.. 5 X his salary, LONDON, playing in a MUCH better league vs people he looks up to like Pep, in the league he followed since he was a young kid in Australia. Or alternatively, he can stay and win another couple SPL titles vs cannon fodder teams for way less money and not test himself.

He owes you no loyalty, he wasn't a boyhood Celtic fan, nor does he have any real ties to you.

FFS calm doon. Ok, I get your point, let’s wait and see. He does owe us loyalty though. And he better fucking remember that. The Rangers press all attacked him brutally and we stood behind him. He owes us loyalty alright. Too many fucking vermin in the game who think they can do as they please and don’t respect clubs and fans. That’s not how I see the world. Like a Tory ****, if you will. Best sums up how I see them.

Purely out of curiosity, why is it that he’s only on a one-year rolling contract? When you say that he owes your club loyalty, then surely that only extends to the length of his contract, no?

He owes us loyalty, not the blazers.

Not sure I understand the logic there. Many Celtic supporters seem to have been underwhelmed when he was appointed, but he's delivered you a back-to-back titles and in all likelihood a treble today. If a 'bigger' club now comes for him, then I think he can walk away feeling he's satisfied his obligations.

I have no issue with him moving on, but it’s the way this was done if it happens. I was behind him from the start, once I saw how he wanted to play, I knew he would deliver, said it on here. It’s supposed to be all about the final , him not just declaring one way or the other, has made it all about him. Not how I would have done it.
