Don't really see the problem. Probably no one has been buried there for many, many years and if there was a thriving Christian community in the area they wouldn't be knocking the church down.
Churches, synagogues and other religious buildings have been turned into other things for years. Mention the word "Muslim" and all of a sudden people get on their high horse. Grow up.
