Centre-back

Howedes looks good if we're after someone older
I think that's exactly what we should be going for. Nastasić is already crazily talented for a 20 year old CH. What he's going to develop into is going to be frightening. So an older more experienced CH, who may not mind being third choice (but will still get plenty of game time) would be ideal.

wouldve loved marquinhos but inigo martinez looks a decent player too, barca and real have been in for him and he would certainly be a good addition.

it's not easy to lure the Germans out from their league. seems like every Germans top player, rather to stay at local club or playing for Bayern Munich.

What about Papadopoulous at Schalke? He is pretty versatile and is young too.

Diego Godin is a good shout too, solid and reliable CB who would fit in well.

A lot of suggestions for the three Schalke players yet they shipped nearly 80 goals in the Bundesliga last season and whenever I watched them they looked a mess in defence. That was often without Papadopoulos though, as he's been a perma-crock lately.

I'd be looking at someone like Rami or Godin maybe if Pepe is a no-go. Rami was man of the match against Barcelona in February and is a very strong, solid defender. Both play for clubs with financial problems too.

We need someone as I'm sorry but lescott will be a liability for us in certain games next year and especially in the champions league.

Godin is prone to very rash decisions and getting caught out of position, he improved last season but still makes mistakes. His Atletico defensive partner Miranda is a superior player.

Miranda would be perfect for us imo. He's 28 so wouldn't stunt Nastasic too much, he wouldn't command top wages, he was the best CB in La Liga last year and would be cheaper than Pepe.

I've read somewhere that Nicolas Otamendi has a £13m release clause? Why not go for him?

Surely it would be a loan deal we'd be looking at. I think it would be daft splashing out
big money for a central defender, when we already have Boyata, Lescott, and Nastasic
who can all play there. Unless Boyata and Lescott are on there way of course.

the manager wants a defender who can read the course of the game and also dictate the middle of the field by passing and finding spaces to create which i believe we don't have now was we stand now.

It shows how poor England are when none of the potential candidates we discuss are English. A shame IMO. Even the likes of Caulker are deemed not good enough by Spurs.

Diego Lugano signed for WBA.

WTF?

He has lot of experience, could imagine him as a 4th CB for us earlier...

He was also former player of Pellegrini last year at Malaga on loan.

I was surprised we didn't go for Demichelis who was available on a free and started for Pellegrini at Malaga.

Think Lugano is much too slow for the Prem now, even slower on the turn than Lescott. He's pretty intelligent but I can see him struggling badly over here. Plus he's injured a lot.

Would we go back to Liverpool again as we did last season? We seem to return to old deals a bit it seems or so it may seem, seemingly. Was it Agger or Skrtyl last season. I seem to have forgot in some seemfullinessous moment.

Might as well sign a Tree with how mobile he is.
