Players like him for the money being quoted dont come around very often.we should be on this,he would IMO take us another level with our current crop of midfielders,if we're going to progress further in chumps league we have to get him.if the fernando deal wasn't so far advanced I'd be inclined to scupper that deal for cesc.could you imagine cesc silva nasri yaya fernandinho and Augero up top.

My word this thread has put on a few pages. After reading back it seems to me that we are going to have to be very cute in how we handle the remaining transfers and a lot of transfer tactics are in play already.

All the clubs in Europe know we can only spend 49m plus sales, in many respects I admire PSGs stance because by signing Luis for reportedly over 50m they sent out the message they couldn't give a fuck, but I wonder if their tactics are to give that message so that the hawks and vultures are not hanging round their players trying to get them on the cheap. Our tactics in so far as Sagna and Fernando are concerned, is it appears these players were already "done" deals before we got the sanctions and by the fact Sagna was free didn't really affect us.

But if we are to avoid the vultures trying to pick over the bones of our carcass the only way to conduct our transfer dealing is as the Chairman said quietly. I know in this electronic age it seems that the selling club, not ours, are where the leaks spring from and maybe understandable that with high profile players it is very difficult to keep everything under wraps. It seems to me odd that Roma quote not only the same figure as Chelsea for the sale of Luis 50m but that it is 1m over the supposed limit.

If we are to conclude these deals Benatia and Fabregas we need to do them behind the scenes, out of the press limelight and what better way to do that is to leak we are not interested. If we have met Fabregas's representative s and he is willing to come to the club, some idea of the wages on offer may have been given. It seems our way of dealing with players in the transfer market echoes those of other European teams where the players demands are met before getting involved with the club.

I am just hoping that by silencing the press on the speculation mooted on here, we can get both players without the teams finding out how much we have. To that end I suspect there will be a couple of weeks of nothing followed with our fringe players being sold. Milner no doubt will have to wait till the end of the WC, so it may be by the end of June if England get knocked out, that his value is added to the pot. My only concern for that, is one of his suitors is Arsenal and I am sure Wenger would love to be able to stick a spanner in the works by leaving his decision to sign till the end of the window thereby denying us of funds and maybe wrecking one of our deals (that presumes Arsenal is his destination).

In essence we have enough money to buy one of the players but not both, we may have to make a decision do we go for a centre back whom we need, or do we buy Fabregas the player who will IMO complete our midfield and make it one of the best in Europe.

For me, Fabregas hasn't made himself a career at Barça because they've played him too far forward too often. At Arsenal he'd play best where Xavi and Modric play.

At times Barça have played him up front! A complete waste of a quality deep lying playmaker.

If he comes and Milner goes as someone on here said that's a big vote of confidence to Marcos lopes. Rodwell and Garcia will leave if him and Fernando join so that will be:
Cm-toure,fabregas,Fernando,fernandinho
Wingers/attacking mids- silva, Nasri,navas,lopes

That is an amazing midfield and is also promoting youth so would be a great move. Surprised that sky sources said were not in for him today but hopefully it isn't true.

You'd really rather have Lopes in the side than Fabregas? Each to their own. I'd like to see as many of the world's best players in the team as possible. Fabregas is absolute quality and we'd be missing a huge opportunity to seriously strengthen the team and stop rivals like the red shit getting him. Surely you'd rather face Chelsea away for example with Fabregas in the side than some EDS lad? I certainly would.

Chelsea might want him but I will be surprised if Fabregas picks them.

You have to become a very disciplined played under Mourinho and some of your freedom has to be sacrificed, especially in the big games anyway.

I just don't think Fabregas will want that hassle because his best shines when you give him more of a free role.

I've had PM's and DM's telling me

1. He has agreed to come but no deal with Barca, yet.

2. Barca have agreed a fee but no personal talks done yet.

3. Fee and personal terms all agreed just waiting for post WC announcement.

4. Its all paper talk and City aren't remotely interested.

And this is just one player and its only the 2nd of June.

Its gonna be fun, fun, fun.

Why do you get all the PMs and DMs? Is that an added benefit of Superbia Membership?
