After Txiki's sign him in a heartbeat comment I would be astonished if we are not making an effort to sign him .
We don't have the money to buy him, unless we sell someone we don't want to. Because we need a centre back infinitely more than we need Fabregas.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Goal.com used to be a joke of a website however over the last year or so they seem quite clued up on City. I think they must have contacts now with the club as they tend to be pretty spot on with us.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

goal to be fair do seem to be in the loop with city now. god I hope its true as fabregas would be sensational in our team!

If we sell Richards, Milner, Sinclair, Guidetti and possibly Garcia then we can afford Fabregas and top class centre back

Can people stop thinking that Garcia i leaving. He is as close to leaving as Aguero is. Rodwell is the one who has been pushed out because of his lack of skill that the rest of the squad had. Garcia and Fernando will have the same slot to fight for, although Fernandinho can be used in the same slot as he was last season.

I see it that IF we sell Milner (13-17m), Rodwell(8-15), Richards (7-10), Sinclair (2-4) and Guidetti (2-6)(Feynoord could pay alot more) then we will have the money for Cesc and a central defender.

I dont want milner to go because we do not have another player like him and its a rare stile that he has that works in the hard games away.

The Premier League champions want to bring the Barcelona midfielder back to England in light speculation surrounding Yaya Toure's future, but Arsenal are also in the race

By Wayne Veysey

Manchester City are preparing to table a €37 million offer for Cesc Fabregas amid interest from his former club Arsenal, Goal understands.

The Premier League champions have decided to make a formal move for the Barcelona midfielder, who has been told he can leave Camp Nou this summer.

City are ready to bid imminently for Fabregas in an attempt to lure the 27-year-old back to the Premier League, while Goal also understands Arsenal have not ruled out a move for their former captain, with the Gunners closely monitoring his situation.

The Londoners are preparing to put together a package to compete with City in the race for the midfielder, who remains on good terms with manager Arsene Wenger despite effectively going on strike to force through his transfer to Barcelona in 2011.

There is also interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, who are in the market for a central midfielder after Frank Lampard confirmed he is leaving the club.

Goal revealed in May that Barcelona would listen to offers for Fabregas this summer as they looked to free up funds to reshape their midfield.

Barca and their new coach Luis Enrique are looking to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke and have told Fabregas he can find a new club.

Under the terms of the buy-back clause in Fabregas' Barcelona contract, the Catalan club would have to inform Arsenal of any bid for the player and give them the opportunity to match it.

City are ready to make the first move for Fabregas amid growing uncertainty over the future of Yaya Toure, who has made it clear he is not entirely happy at the Etihad Stadium.

Wenger also remains a huge admirer of Fabregas and is weighing up a move for his former protege despite appearing to have a wealth of technically adept attacking midfielders in his squad. The pair spoke regularly on the phone last summer about the Spain international returning to the club where he blossomed into one of Europe's outstanding young midfielders.

The Barca academy graduate is at a crossroads in his career as he enters the final two years of his contract with the Catalan club in July.

Fabregas was jeered by home supporters during Barcelona's 2-1 home victory over Athletic Bilbao in April and became a scapegoat towards the end of last season.

I reckon the best deal for those players you listed would be 10 m for Milner and the others would be either a nominal fee of around 1 or 2 m or a loan/free transfer.
They simply have either a terrible injury record, loss of form or not good enough to command those fees.

Milner has a clause for around 12-15m, Everton are in need of a central midfielder and since Barry aint going back they perhaps will have to go for him and we will accept the offer either way. We've had a bid for Richards from Hull (around 8m) and that could be pushed up if needed.

My thought only.

Selling almost our entire English contingent is probably as likely as Garcia going, I just don't think we'll do it. You're leaving pretty much just Hart as the only English guy in the dressing room of an English club!
