It not only strengthens the team but boosts the club profile,,,helps with the sponsor and attracts more world wide following.....

Sergio, Yaya and Vinny are our superstar players anyway.
FFP has caused us not to get Cesc, had we not had a 50m cap he would have signed for us by now I reckon.

We've built several highly valued superstars ourselves:
Tevez, Yaya, Balotelli (largely became a household name around the world with us), Silva, and Kompany.

I don't even think Chelsea anticipated 50m coming for Luiz and 40m for Mata.
Costa had a buyout so anyone could have triggered it but Fabregas is the best coup.
FFP hitting us hard this summer.

We should have signed him. We were stretched very thin by injuries this season and you can never have too many quality players, especially experienced ones who count as homegrown.
Terrible oversight not to jump in and sign such a top quality player, whether Yaya stays or not.
Fabregas would have given us another option with so many games during a season, and he would help show our intent with being a well known star player. Would have been a real boost for the club and consolidated our position as champions, bringing in genuine, proven champions league quality.
Very disappointing; we could have dominated next season with him added to our title winning side, instead a main rival has just signed two amazing players for £60m. We really need to start wading in and showing we mean business. Last time we won the title we seriously fucked up in the transfer market, we don't need a repeat of that. Feels like a lack of ambition and a degree of timidity in the transfer market.

This is the Red Herring of the summer. Fabregas to Chelsea is about as likely as Reus to United.
