Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Fabregas would be a pointless signing imo. He is not what we need at all.
Would rather Sanchez or Di Maria who would be far more beneficial to us.

I agree. Sell Rodwell, Garcia, Richards, Guidetti, Sinclair and we should have enough funds to get Sanchez. Milner can then be the 4th CM

or Pedro according to today's rumours

I've wanted to sign Pedro forever, but I'd much rather us have signed Fabregas. Shame we couldn't defer the punishment because he's someone who could run our midfield for the next 5 years.

I agree....good call mate....This would give us more width and fit a bigger need than CM, where we currently have a number of players that can play that role....

Re: Cesc Fabregas

There are plenty of politics in play.

Chelsea know City want Fabregas, they are playing games on a number of levels.

It is also linked into Mangala and Benatia, other targets Chelsea feel they can do with or without.

Chelsea want to force City into spending big and before we are ready.

Mourinho is quite happy to wait to sign Fabregas.

Paris and Chelsea are in cahoots, they did the Luiz deal at the level they did, because PSG quickly wanted to force the issue on Yaya.

Sneaky bastards.

Fair- but what I am confused by is Txiki's comment a few weeks ago; something along the lines of "if Fabregas was available I'd sign him with my eyes closed"- sure I heard that?

I'm not sure it is FFP stopping this, either. I'd be hugely surprised if the only signings we made were to be Fernando, a CB and Sagna.

I think we can always look to improve the midfield, especially if Yaya goes, gets injured, or just isn't as interested after his comments.

Fabregas would be ideal for our set up. The fluidity of a trio of Nasri, Fabregas and Silva, ahead of Fernando and Fernandinho, and behind Aguero would be sublime. And that team is without Yaya.

Don't forget Pellegrini's ability to seemingly improve these kind of players beyond the levels they have performed at previously.

So it's either Fabregas or a CB then-not both if we are keeping Yaya

Choices choices choices!

If this is the case Tolm, why don't we just call their bluff? Let Chelsea sign Fabregas, Costa and Mangala, that's the best part of £100 million spent. Surely that would be them spent for the summer.

I believe Fabregas and Mangala are non essential targets for us, let them play games, if they are doing it just to piss us off then they are going to wind up the clubs, players and agents and make things harder for themselves in future.

Ever watched Storage Hunters? Get your opponent to overspend early on and they've not got any cash left when the good stuff appears. Chelsea are quids in with their sales, PSG is just ignoring Platini and we're on a budget.

I suspect this could be a tricky window and we may have to accept we'll be at a disadvantage this season. That may be why our focus is on the long game with future profit streams at the forefront of what's happening this summer - NYCFC, M(elbourne)CFC, more seats at the Etihad etc
