Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Many will disagree of course, but Fabregas has been living off reputation. That said, he suits the Premier League better than La Liga but not convinced he'll suit Mourinho brand football.

Really not arsed he's going to Chelsea, I'd be more worried had they signed their main target Koke who >>> Fabregas.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

But there's still a less than zero chance of him going to Chelsea, right?

Call me daft but I don't understand why there should be such unease re the Yaya situation.

Let's say Yaya does indeed want to leave and has made that clear to the board. If i was Ferran Soriano I would say:

"Fair enough but we will not sell you unless a bid of £50 million comes in, not a penny less. Unless those conditions are met you're going nowhere, you've got 4 years left on a contract you wanted to sign a year ago".

We then either a) reach a deal with a club and have money to spend (Pogba or Vidal for me not Fabregas) b) he backs down and carries on for City or c) he continues to throw a wobbler and we stick him in the reserves.

Nice in theory, but City don't want to sell Yaya.

You don't pay someone of 31 £200k a week and stick him in the reserves. He has three years remaining.

And certainly to someone who has an agent who would have us in the papers every day.

A pissed-off Yaya, inside our dressing room, would be a very bad thing for our team on the pitch.

He is a very forceful character.

City have to be prudent and keeping a watching brief on Fabregas makes plenty of sense at this stage.

I suspect Yaya will announce it was all a huge misunderstanding, but we'll see.

I would rather have Yaya and his agent than Fabregas anyday of the week..

Yaya can change a game at any moment and a one off..

Fabregas is a good player but there are plenty like him.

As much as it pains me to say it, have to agree with this 100%

To be fair he's been playing out of position with Barca. Been mostly playing as a false #9. Still been pretty good in that role but he's much better in central midfield as the creator.

There are plenty of politics in play.

Chelsea know City want Fabregas, they are playing games on a number of levels.

It is also linked into Mangala and Benatia, other targets Chelsea feel they can do with or without.

Chelsea want to force City into spending big and before we are ready.

Mourinho is quite happy to wait to sign Fabregas.

Paris and Chelsea are in cahoots, they did the Luiz deal at the level they did, because PSG quickly wanted to force the issue on Yaya.

Sneaky bastards.

WTF....

Yep, can't pretend to understand it all.

Chelsea sign Fabregas, they win.

Paris sign Yaya, we sign Fabregas, Chelsea win.

Chelsea and Paris are becoming very close. There are a number of mutual deals on the horizon for them in the next couple years, mainly Oscar and Hazard.

25 of his Barca starts were in central midfield last season compared to 10 in the forward role they sometimes play him in.

If Pep did come here eventually it would worry me how he insists on specific expensive signing like Fabregas and Ibra and then after a season just wants to get rid of them. He seems to tinker too much he had the best team in the world and then buys a player they don't need tries at all cost to make it work changing formations and playing him in different positions then a season later Barcelona scrape their way to a single cup win and Pep resigns.

I find it laughable that he blames Fabregas for 'damaging' the team and as the blame figure for Barca not being the best team any more. The failing is actually the fact they have a poor set of CBs and lost out to PSG for Silva.

Fabregas is far from the reason Barca have skipped off, the reason they've slipped is because Xavi has aged and Messi has been injured, Pedro hasn't had the same impact either. Barca need two CBs, a RB and a GK. But instead their first signing was Rakitic, just like when they needed a CB but bought Song, just like when they needed a CB they bought Neymar. They have neglected to fix an absolute glaring weakness and that's cost them.

By signing Rakitic they have fixed their weakness in CM, also you might not have heard they are getting shot of Fabregas and they have also already signed a GK.
