I wasn't until last week. I had seen plenty of speculation.

He had not been on City's radar but we have been approached and it's an opportunity we are trying to run with.

The only club I fear is Liverpool. They want to make a statement signing and are going to lose out on the Ukrainian kid to United.
Surprising, but Arsenal have amazing depth in midfield (certainly in terms of attacking players).

The teams that need a Fabregas are City (no depth in midfield at all), Utd (no creativity at all), and Liverpool who at the moment totally bypass midfield with the balls played into the channels for the front 3. They must know that next season they will need to change their style of play.

Liverpool could guarantee 1st team football, but that wouldn't be a massive problem at City. And we'd guarantee trophies. We also have a much better stage. A 62,000 Etihad will be the best place to play football outside of Wembley.
Have the rags sold Mata?

And whilst I'd like Cesc, it's ridiculous to suggest we have no depth in midfield, unless sine of them are going. He may be an upgrade, but he doesn't provide missing depth. As for Liverpool, who plays the balls into the channels?
Forgot about Mata.

Cesc Fabregas will not return to Arsenal as Arsene Wenger rules out move. @Matt_Law_DT reports <a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/10868044/Cesc-Fabregas-will-not-return-to-Arsenal-from-Barcelona-as-Arsene-Wenger-rules-out-30m-move.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -move.html</a> … pic.twitter.com/BRpMMXavqs

Cesc Fabregas will not return to Arsenal from Barcelona as Arsene Wenger rules out £30m move
Spain international will be allowed leave the Nou Camp with Manchester City now clear favourites to land the midfielder

Arsenal are set to rule out a move to take Cesc Fabregas back to the Emirates. That could leave the way clear for Manchester City to make Fabregas their top target to replace unhappy Yaya Toure.

Barcelona have told Premier League clubs that Fabregas can leave the Nou Camp this summer for £30 million.

Arsenal have first option on the Spaniard, but have not responded to Barca’s tip off that Fabregas is available.

Fabregas is understood to be disappointed that Arsenal have not shown a greater interest, but is still hoping to come back to England.

Having signed Mesut Ozil for a club record £42m fee last summer, Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger would struggle to accommodate Fabregas in his squad.

City are ready to target Fabregas as a replacement for Toure if the Ivory Coast midfielder cannot be convinced to stay at Eastlands.

Fabregas is four years younger than Toure and would count as a home-grown player under Financial Fair Play rules, having first joined Arsenal as a 16-year-old.

His £100,000-a-week wages are also significantly lower than Toure’s, which would also benefit City’s FFP situation.

City were fined £49m, £32m of which is suspended, and can only name a 21-man Champions League squad next season after failing FFP rules.
Hmmm. No quotes at all.

Kin hell marv I can't work you out! If fishing then congratulations you got me but if not.........then u have real problems mate!
I am always ahead of the curve.

I hope to be wrong about Ramsey, as he plays for a rival, but between August and November, when he got injured he was playing out of this world.

And when he returned he lifted Arsenal in a way that good players like Rosicky and Podolski were unable to do.

Do you remember thatgoal he scored against Norwich on the last day? Some unbelievable goals.

Of course Yaya Toure was the best player last season because he did it throughout the season, and in the big games. But had Ramsey stayed fit, I think they would have been Champions, and not us

Of curse we don't know now. It's just conjecture. We'll know next season. Was it a 2 month blip? Or the start of something special?

A Michael Ricketts/David White, or something special. The sheer quality of his play and goals tells me he's the real thing
So if Ramsey was fit and played all the games Arsenal would be champions. What if Aguero who played the same amount of games as Ramsey was fit all season too? Would we again be champions then.

Just stupid comments Marv
I agree with you about Aguero. I'm just putting Ramsey in that bracket of players because of the impact he made on his team when he was fit.

No one can argue with that. All you can question is whether he could maintain that for a season.

Back to Fabregas.............

Re: Cesc Fabregas

So are we going to sign him or not?

With Toure kicking up a fuss, Arsenal ruling themselves out, the Rags being shit and Chelsea unlikely to sign another CM we seem to be in a good position if we wanted to get him.

I personally would fuck Yaya off for 25-30m and sign Fabregas, we get a player in his prime who would suit our style and replace an old player who seems to be wanting out and would surely be on less wages. Yaya is unlikely to be as good as he was this season and he would need to be replaced soon anyway, so with an opportunity like this I think we should take it if its possible. Not often a player as good as him is available.

He would also count as homegrown I believe which is an added bonus.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

I'd take him. He was absolutely incredible last time he was in the PL, he just hasn't worked at Barca in the same way.

If he could play the way he did at Arsenal £25m would be an absolute steal.

seems inescapable then

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Sell Yaya. Buy Fernando and Fàbregas.

Fàbregas wasn't even on the radar but when a player of that quality is available for such a cheap price, you can't sit back and let him join a rival club.

Begiristain and Soriano know him, I hope they make this happen. We need to begin the weaning process so we aren't relying on a 31 year old Touré who is determined to pull our trousers down every summer.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Would love to sign him but not at the expense of yaya. Can't see us being in for him if we get fernando as expected, I know they play different roles in midfield but would presume fernandinho will be more box to box if we get fenando.

Only way I can see this is if yaya goes, and like I said previous, that'd be a step down for us IMO
