When was the last time Mourinho took a player he didn't want?

It's absolute insanity that these reports are being given any credence. Zero chance that this is going to happen. Less than zero.

Doesn't matter if it isn't up to Mourinho, does it?

C'mon ... you really think Mourinho has no say over who Chelsea sign? After they've just sold Luiz and Mata? Pull the other one. Mourinho and Chelsea aren't signing Fabregas unless Mourinho's had a personality transplant and totally changed his footballing philosophy overnight.

You were saying, Billy?

Never claimed to be ITK, and not sure this constitutes regardless, but if you're a skeptic feel free to take this with a grain of salt:

I work with a person who participated in the Soccer Aid charity match at Old Trafford. We were working together when Fabregas officially put pen to paper last Thursday, and I asked him if he'd seen the news. He smiled and said he'd gotten Jose's attention at halftime at the Soccer Aid match, and asked if he was going to lose Fabregas to United. Jose smiled back and said (June 8th at the time): "We signed him two weeks ago. Nobody else is in for him. It eez done. He eez ours," and gave what my coworker admitted was a hilariously sly grin.

Nothing particularly interesting about it, except that it's a funny story. But it is notable for a couple things: A) Jose very much wanted the player, and B) these transfers are basically finished long, long before the player holds the shirt up and poses for pictures. Some transfers are more of a blitz than others I'm sure, but there are definitely times where they know what's going to happen weeks before it can be completed, while the press is still very much flapping around.

Looking back at some of the comments about Fabregas is amusing to say the least.

Those who know, know. Fabregas is a gem and proving many wrong. We should've drafted him in for sure, especially with a 'checked out Yaya' on the books.

We could've sold Yaya mate. Sold Negredo to Athletico and also move on unfavoured Nastasic. Could've and should've maybe, but to let Chelsea snap up a world class player unopposed is a bitter blow.

Hazard, Costa and Fabregas. They have 3 match winners there and all around about mid 20's.

This is an area we need to look at in the near future, we have Aguero but for me once Yaya leaves we are struggling for players that can win a game on their own.

I'd chuck Silva in that bracket, his performance at Hull away last season being a prime example.

Possibly, i was mainly talking about someone who doesn't touch the ball for 95% of the game then wins you the game with a moment of brilliance.

Silva did that against Hull last year, but more often than not he is involved with everything we do.

He also did it in the away game at Liverpool despite us getting beat, just wish he could add a few more goals to his game.

Laughable mate. So many people have such short memories when it comes to football. Fools. Fabregas was a total guarantee to be a top class player.

If come the end of the season we finish lower than first then Cesc will have been the major reason. He really is that good.

I agree...Hate to say it but Costa and Cesc are already proving many wrong....we still have 25+ mill in the bank to buy in Jan.....I hope we do, as when you look back at the first 5/6 weeks of the season I think its clear who did the best shopping over the summer....when you look at our average age in the squad....it really is time we purchased a young, big name, superstar...Reus/Pogba would make a lot of sense on many levels....

It didn't help though by being hampered by FFP restrictions. To engage in the kind of signing that would have had us on the edge of our seats, we needed to sell first, but some of those players who needed to be moved on went cheaper than they should, or are still here until at least January.

I don't think they've proved anyone wrong ( or right dpfor that matter yet).

Let's see whether Cesc disappears in the second half of the season as he invariably does.

Costa reminds me of Negrado.

The beginning of October is far to early to judge players.

Fabregas' main problem and what was always thrown at him is he far too often goes missing in the big games. But at City, we have plenty of players who can turn up against the big teams when it matters, we need match winners that can produce something against poorer sides that have parked the bus. Cesc can, and is providing that for Chelsea. Forget Costa's tap in's This guy is the one making the difference for Chelsea this year. If they finish above us this year, he'll be the main reason why.
