I don't know where this £30m figure has come from, because why would Barcelona sell him for that when his buyout is about 200m euros?

Probably because they aren't ar*ed if he leaves and nobody will even think of paying 200 million euros for him.

He's still young but he's been around at the top now for a long time. I wouldn't pay £30 million for him. That's all the Arse received for him and he was at his peak then. He's gone off the boil now and couldn't do it at his home club. Why would he come to us now apart from pocketing a final payday ? Shirley he'd go to the Arse and be back with his mentor.

We have Nasri and Silva and a wealth of other midfield talent. We could probably do with another winger if anything. Having two Navas-type players stretching the defensive teams wide would help for the parked busses next term.

We need cover for Zabs as well.

Another 2 players and with Jovetic back and Nasty back from injury and DMD settle in his role then we can rotate more.

No need to splash a fortune on a player like Fabregas who on his day 2-3 years ago was a top player but who hasn't set the world on fire at Barca.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Pellers couldn't rotate Zab because he couldn't rely on Richards, when Kompany was injured we had no one to stand in for him, similarly lescott wasn't preferred in our system and Nasty injured for a long spell. Kolorov and Clichy were rotated and although Clichy wasn't at his best we managed to win with him in the side, without left back looking vulnerable. Yaya was never dropped but only substituted, Fernandhino wasn't rotated and was almost burnt out by the end. Garcia was good in some games but completely outclassed in others and we had an injured Rodwell. For whatever reason Milner just wasn't preferred in central midfield. Navas and Milner were rotated but not always. Nasri and Silva were played together most games, and Jovetic was injured for the most part relying on three strikers with Aguero picking up most of the injuries.

My point and I am sure I ain't alone is, we should be able to rotate every position in the same way Clichy and Kolorov were done, save for tactical reasons, injuries and suspensions which will occur. As you say we seemed to be fire fighting with our squad most of the season. Finally we should also have a number of Academy prospects able to fill in for any position where we get two injuries to a particular set of players, with Rekik and Lopes nearly ready and with maybe a re juvenated Boyata hopefully things won't be as bad especially with the new incomings.

Pellegrini in his interview specifically mentioned rotation for the players this season. Said it before and will say it again whoever arrives and the current players will have to take rests and can't be expected to play every game like Zab, Yaya, Kompany (when he was fit) Silva, Nasri, etc did last season. Seemed to me last season rotation only happened to the fringe players and when players injured or suspended. If we really want to push for the four competitions we will have to play without the silvas, aguero and Yaya even if they are fit to keep them in good nick till the prizes are handed out.

Very good point.

Would be a great point if we were actively trying to win all 4 competitions. With the title (double in fact) already in the bag for MP, I fully expect the club will only be seriously interested in the title and CL next season.

Imo MP's targets will have already been set : the title and a minimum of the CL QFs.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

I reckon without the injuries and players being on their last legs when we played Wigan we would have had a very good chance at the Domestic treble. Barca stood between us and QF CL, and didn't really have Aguero up and running in both legs. Fine margins maybe, maybe the results would have remained the same even if we had of had a 100% fit aguero.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Seems to me the FFP rules would probably mean you just have to come in under the FFP transfer limit by season's end, not by Summer's end. Anybody know? The club might be adding things up on their fingers beyond the dimensions to which a lot City fans are limiting themselves.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Telegraph reckon Arsenal and Utd gone cool on Fabregas whilst the Mail reckons Utd are in for him.

Who to believe?
