Cesc

It's between us and Barca. Both clubs have offers on the table atm and he will be leaving to one or the other. Our wages offer is about twice as much as Barca's, but obviously he has deeper ties there. Madrid put in a large bid as well, but it's already been rejected. Call me a wum if you want, but see if I've ever been wrong.

You said Eto'o agreed a deal with an English club last season, though that was about your only prediction you've ever made on this forum.

In fairness to you, you got the Kaka to Real Madrid thing right when everyone was arguing against.

Cesc is still going to Barca if he's leaving at all though ;)

He did agree a deal, the fee was the issue.

No he won't come but i give this post some credence tbh.

If you dont ask you dont get?

Totally agree. He probably won't come but if we do have a bid accepted then we at least get a brief opportunity to speak to him and offer him a sack of cash, the size of which he could barely comprehend. And he would be worth it because he is the type of player who would instantly turn us into genuine challengers. He may well turn it down but you never know, he may just decide he'd like the money. Incidentally, if he loves Barcelona so much, why did he fuck off to Arsenal when he was already at the club of his dreams?

He thought he wasn't going to get any games and would be sold.

I'd imagine theres not a chance in hell of ever securing this deal, even if we did bid.

With that in mind, i'd try to make sure we keep a good relationship with Barca and clear the way.

Most of all he wants to win. He'd perhaps stay at Arsenal if he thought they could invest to do it. Barcelona may be his dream club. But part of the reason is because they win a lot of trophies. Part of it, probably a large part, is because it is home. But why not take a shot at landing him. I doubt he comes just because he's spoken so openly about Barcelona as his dream. But sooner or later a big star with a longer future (a young superstar) is going to be willing to build something big at City. And when that happens the next one will come. And so forth and so forth and so on. Tevez was a great start in the right direction. And AJ is a great second piece of a longer term puzzle. Just give it time folks. Fabregas would be immense for this team. So would Milner. Those are the types of players who become huge pieces of the puzzle for 5-6 years. That's what Mancini should be pursuing.

If he loved them that much, you'd have thought he would give it a little bit longer to get a game rather than leaving at 16. Very odd.

Or perhaps he was just insecure about his future and moved to a club where he was told he would be playing games (he only got a few cup games the first year, but then before he had turned 18 he had played 30 league games already)? I don't think anyone right now could argue with the idea that Fabregas has now done enough to ensure that he would play regularly for Barca, which he feared he never would at the age of 16.

Just speculating, of course.
